Benazir Bhutto was opposed by former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Al-Qaida, the Taliban and Pakistani jihadist groups. She was eventually assassinated in 2007. Ten years prior to her death, Swiss Banks went ahead with a move to freeze assets belonging to Bhutto and her extended family at the request of Pakistan
