Shahbaz Sharif shares this trait of Sexual addiction with Nawaz Sharif.

Nawaz Sharif is a little bit slow in his intellectual capacities. Even, at the UN, he kept Sartaj Aziz next to explain to him the proceeding of the General Assembly. This dim witted but corrupt to the core industrial wadera is back in the spotlight.

His main addiction is sex.

Shahbaz Sharif shares this trait of Sexual addiction with Nawaz Sharif.

Meet the drunkards in Pakistan media

Truth revolves around both positives and negatives. Meet the drunkards in Pakistan media, especially one man (HN – full name given at the end) whom we should not ignore. This man (HN) came on a Live talk show at night on a local TV channel a few years ago and started using extremely offensive and abusive language against a government official who was also invited to the same programme. It was very sad to see a senior media person (HN) use such language on a live programme but he was drunk actually, so he couldn’t help it. If government officials are corrupt, it still does not make us justified in uttering filthy language against them on public TV! (Upcoming Article)

For the very fact that no other politician has had the temerity to question the legality of the drone attacks, the validity of the election process, the moral courage to challenge a fascist party in its own backyard and to raise the issue of corruption in the dharnas…….. Do we want to live with the pathetic electoral process- where the irregularities, as they are being revealed daily, are mind boggling? Do we want to accept the killing of innocent children, women, men and older people as part of ‘collateral damage’ of the drone attacks? Do we want to be held hostage to a political party that believes in terrorizing the citizens of a whole city? And ultimately, if we want to control terrorism, we will have to address the upstream factors- and the complete and utter failure of the educational, health, law and order and justice systems of Pakistan. And if one man and one party is raising all the above issues and bringing them into our collective political consciousness, what is wrong with that? And what does it matter if the person raising these issues is a sportsman or a shopkeeper or a soldier or a businessman? As long as he is speaking the truth and challenging the status quo, he/she has my support Whether PTI survives or not without IK is a question we must leave for the future. All I know is that if the foundations of any party or an organization or an individual are based on ethics, morals and integrity, that party and that individual will leave a legacy for future generations. That is why we remember Martin Luther King, Abraham Lincoln, Mohammed Ali Jinnah, Nelson Madela and what they stood for. And that is why we do not remember Marcos, Shah or Iran, Idi Amin, Zia ul Haq and others like them

The Af-Pak map is about to get a make over

In the first week of April, the United States cleared Foreign Military Sale to Pakistan for AH-1Z Viper Attack Helicopters and AGM-114R Hellfire II Missiles as part of a $1-billion deal. Before this deal came through, the US had released $1 billion for Pakistan from the Coalition Support Funds in 2014, in addition to the $30-odd billion already given under some or the other head to the country.

The helicopter and missile deal is the largest one since $5.8 billion in 2006 for upgrading F16 aircraft. This latest agreement, like the previous ones, has been cleared despite the fact that Pakistan has steadfastly worked against the US’ interests in Afghanistan, used the Haqqani Network, controlled and manipulated the Taliban and misled the US on Osama bin Laden’s whereabouts.

So there must be very good reasons why the US is choosing to ignore Pakistan’s track record and reward it. Could it be for the services rendered to the US in the past or is it a payment for the future? This economic and military support to Pakistan could also be an insurance in the futile hope that Islamabad will stay away from Beijing, which is making very strong moves in Afghanistan and Iran.

China has offered to construct the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline that will pass through Gwadar to Nawabshah in Sindh and will also sell eight submarines to Pakistan.

Finally, the latest US-Pakistan deal could also be a small gift to Pakistan to assuage a feeling of insecurity and hurt after President Barack Obama visited India twice.

This military deal with Pakistan reaffirms the belief that the US has an abiding interest in the country regardless of its misdemeanours. There is also a message for India in this: If New Delhi continues to shop elsewhere then America will sell arms to other countries because armament export is the lifeline of the US economy and determines the well being of many Congressmen.

The US is also concerned by Pakistan’s interest in buying attack helicopters from Russia and China and the development of an Asia-centric neo-multilateral grouping that excludes it.

Even though the helicopter and Hellfire missile deal may not be a big-ticket item, the US-Pakistan military relationship will continue to be a factor in India-Pakistan relations. It determines Pakistani adventurism and belligerency on bilateral issues with India.

It would be a mistake to assume that the US has changed its policy towards the region. It may have changed its style or the way it wishes to handle India and Pakistan but not its overall interests. The US wants to have a stronger presence in India without losing the hold it has on the military rulers in Pakistan.

Similarly, the optimistic among us must not interpret the recent India-Pakistan humanitarian co-operation in Yemen as the beginning of neighbourly love. These acts were results of practical realities and no side wanted to look petty by not joining hands during such a crucial moment.

India must look for the real Pakistan in its various nuclear missiles, the fissile material it is acquiring and the terrorists it harbours on its soil. None of this has changed and Islamabad continues to prevaricate on the trial of Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi and others. Rest assured, Pakistani-inspired terrorist attacks in Jammu and Kashmir will also continue.

A self-confident Pakistan is of interest to India as it could lead to rational mutually beneficial relationship. Together the two could achieve much for their countries and the region.

An over-confident Pakistan tends to be belligerent and aggressive, a nuisance but it achieves little. A diffident Pakistan, under its military and religious bigots, is a danger to itself and the neighbourhood. It adopts guerrilla tactics, literally and figuratively, by using each period of attempts at peace and tranquillity to regroup and consolidate for the next battle.

The recent downturn in Pakistan’s relations with Saudi Arabia and the UAE, who feel angered by apparent ingratitude, may be temporary. It may be that Pakistan’s internal political dynamics and religious compulsions will still change this decision and that would be just as significant.

Despite its misadventures in Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria, the US is unlikely to stop pursuing its wrong policies or suddenly discover an ability to discern that it was being misled by its allies. The US is unable or unwilling to leverage its economic and military assistance to bring about a change in Pakistan’s policies.

Instead, Pakistan’s sensitivities about Afghanistan will continue to weigh disproportionately in the US’ geopolitical calculations. This is the real world we live in and we will have to learn to deal with a superpower that is increasingly showing evidence of being unable to go it alone.

The superpower is today faced with the distinct possibility that it will be replaced in Afghanistan by China who will use Pakistan as its willing surrogate. The $46-billion infrastructure deal that China has given Pakistan is a step in that direction.

China already has a considerable economic presence in West Asia. It will now concentrate on energy-rich Iran that has emerged much stronger after its nuclear deal and the recent fiascoes in West Asia. China is positioning itself ahead of the US presidential elections next year. The Russians, with their growing understanding with China, cannot be discounted as they strengthen their relations with Iran.

There is renewed talk of an India-Iran deal to develop the Chahbahar port. The stage is being set for a new game in our immediate neighbourhood and it may look different once the dust settles down.

Original Title: IQBAL TAIRAY DAIS KA KYA HAAL SUNAOON?

Urdu Article by: Irshad Ahmed Arif

Translated by: S Roman Ahsan (January 2011)

After Governor Salman Taseer’s assassination, a question is being constantly raised whether there is a need for any blasphemy law in a country whose constitution is Islamic and which is inhabited by Muslims with 98% population. And hence, nobody could dare insult their Prophet’s (pbuh) image. It is understandable that in a 98% Muslim majority country like Pakistan no person would really go to the extent of uttering any insulting remarks against the Prophet (pbuh) or carrying out any other blasphemy action but who would enlighten the intellectuals of this nation that a book by the name of “Heavenly Communism” was written in Lahore in 1983. This book was written by an advocate Mushtaq Raj and was freely distributed among the literate society in Pakistan. Upon publication of this book, Lahore High Court Bar Association and Bar Council cancelled the membership of Mushtaq Raj and demanded that the government ban this book and the author should be arrested thereby given a severe punishment.

A resolution was presented in a session of Lahore High Court Bar Association which was being addressed by President Syed Afzal Haider. It was demanded in the resolution that there should be death penalty for blasphemy against Prophet (pbuh) since there was mention of no punishment for such transgressions in the law before that. It is pertinent to mention here that this resolution was neither presented in an assembly of religious leaders, nor the session was headed by Late General Zia-ul-Haque or any of his followers. Rather it was presided by a progressive and broad-minded person Advocate Syed Afzal Haider who was a supporter of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) yet carried a strong love for Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) in his heart. Hence, the resolution was approved with mutual consensus finally.

After the resolution was presented, a member suggested that the author of the book Mushtaq Raj should also be called in the session. Before any other member could intervene, Barrister Malik Saeed Hassan (a PPP loyalist who became the judge in Lahore High Court during Benazir Bhutto’s reign) whose liberal views, respect for law and religious tolerance were endorsed by everyone, stood up and opposed this suggestion. His face was red with anger and he spoke in a loud voice, “If that offender is called, I will throw him out of this session.” At that time, neither the extreme opponents of General Zia’s dictatorship made any effort to label the book as the finest specimen of freedom of expression, nor Mushtaq Raj was portrayed as the symbol of progressive thought (Roshan Khayaali) and religious tolerance. Also, no question was raised whether there was any need for creating Blasphemy law. However, the elements in United States and Europe voiced their support for Mushtaq Raj. Besides that, a lady lawyer who was a human rights activist considered the issue as falling under under human rights and at a seminar she used careless words about Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) but apologized later on.

The emotional attachment and love for Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) by the Muslims is incomprehensible by the capitalist societies of the West. Same is the case with those entities that hate religion who want to make the Pakistan of Iqbal (ra) and Quaid (ra), a godless state where they want to promote vulgar values. Liberalism is different from godlessness it needs to be noted and still has its limits if we talk about a Muslim country.

In the book “Hayaat-e-Iqbal”, the following incident is quoted about a gathering in which Allama Iqbal (ra) was seated. One day Iqbal (ra) was surrounded by people and a debate was going on concerning some literary topics. A few college-students arrived there also. During the discussion, a student took the name of Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.w.) as “Muhammad Sahab”. Allama Iqbal’s face turned red with anger and he said “Expel him from this gathering as he has no manners on how to take the name of Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.w.)”. Then tears started falling from his eyes profusely and this condition persisted for a long time.

A fellow of trinity college Oxford writes in his book ‘Muhammad (saw) and Muhammadinism (saw)’, “Christians should keep this in mind that the message by Muhammad (s.a.w.w.) created such intoxication amongst his followers which cannot be found even amongst the early followers of Jesus (pbuh).”

Suhail Bin Umroo wrote the clauses of the petition of Hudaibiya. When he went back to Makkah, he said to his people “What I saw in the assembly of Muhammad (s.a.w.w.), I did not even see in the royal courts of Iran or Rome. I have seen that when their Prophet performs ablution (wazoo), they do not let that water drip down on the floor but rinse their faces with it. When he has his hair cut, they do not waste the hair, rather distribute it amongst them. They do not even waste his saliva and apply it on their hands and eyes. Who do you talk about? Will you fight him?” (It is important to mention here that ordinary Muslims like us are not supposed to form such an attachments with any spiritual person in real life – the level of attachment mentioned here was only for Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.w.) )

Rationality demands that after this gruesome incident, every person and group should evaluate their approach and way of thinking. The rising tendencies of breaking the law should be analyzed so as to curb further division of this nation which is already split into sects, castes, races and political parties. The murder of Governor Taseer has instead been made a source of acquiring political and grouping gains by political and religious groups and by foreign funded NGOs in particular. Different justifications are being given to abolish blasphemy law and attempts are being made to create acceptance for blasphemy against the Prophet (pbuh) amongst society by imparting lessons of tolerance, moderation, compassion and forgiveness to the nation but the 18 crore emotional Muslims are not that foolish that they will forget this verse of Maulana Zafar Ali Khan, a keen devotee (aashiq) of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh):

Till I die for the honour of Khawaja But-ha (Prophet s.a.w.w.),

God is a witness that my faith cannot be complete

[Na jub tuk kut maroon main Khawaja “But-ha (saw)” key izzat per, Khuda Shahid hai kaamil maira emaan ho nahi sakta]

Subversive activities in Balochistan Asif Haroon Raja

Subversive activities in Balochistan

Asif Haroon Raja

India has always used Afghanistan as a second front against Pakistan. India has over the years been financing problems in Pakistan”. Chuck Hagel

ScreenHunter_57-May.-18-07.51It is an irrefutable reality that India’s prime intelligence agency RAW is leading terrorist activities in Baluchistan by using the soil of Afghanistan, harbouring and financing terrorists and projecting them as freedom fighters. This covert support is going on since 2002 and several other foreign agencies have also been supplementing RAW’s efforts. RAW had created Mukti Bahini, a militant wing of Awami League in former East Pakistan in late 1960s and in 1971 established 59 training camps all along the border to train, equip and launch them to sever eastern wing from West Pakistan. After accomplishing its mission, in 1973 RAW was assigned the task of subverting Sindh with the help of Sindhi nationalist parties. In conjunction with KGB and KHAD, RAW fully supported Baloch insurgency from 1973 to 1978; and again destabilised Pakistan in 1980s by supporting Al-Zulfiqar, a terrorist wing of PPP.

After the creation of MQM in 1984, RAW established links with the new party leadership and is still guiding and assisting it. Over one million weapons have been inducted in port city by RAW and other agencies as well as NATO to make the economic hub centre restive. Startling disclosures have been made by two recently arrested MQM terrorists Junaid and Tahir Lamba who revealed that RAW has been imparting training to MQM workers since 1996 at Dheradun to destabilize Karachi.

RAW is arming, training and funding banned terrorist groups Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), Baloch Republican Army (BRA), Baloch Liberation Front (BLF) and Baluchistan Lashkar headed by runaway Baloch rebel leaders. Pattern is similar to its support to Mukti Bahini in 1971. RAW established 9 training camps along Afghan-Pakistan border in 2003 to train Baloch dissidents. Later, in league with CIA, MI-6 and Afghan NDS, it set up 60 training camps in interior Baluchistan. Shamsi airbase in Baluchistan (100 miles away from Iran’s eastern border and same distance from Afghanistan’s southern border) was also used by CIA to foment insurgency and to assist Jundollah group.

Besides sabotage and subversion, Indo-US-Western propaganda machinery has been eulogising the heroics of the Baloch insurgents by projecting them as seekers of their socio-politico-economic rights. Atrocities of insurgents against non-Baloch settlers in Baluchistan, forcing over 100,000 to migrate, blatant target killings of pro-Pakistan Baloch and government officials, teachers/professors, Hazaras, kidnapping for ransom, blowing up gas pipelines, electric pylons/grids, railway lines, attacking trains, security forces, challenging the writ of the state, seeking foreign support to break up Pakistan, all these undesirable acts were looked the other way. No objections were raised by local and foreign media when exiled Baloch leaders sought intervention by India, or the US or NATO or the UN to help them liberate Baluchistan.

Conversely, counter actions of the law enforcement agencies (LEA) to safeguard territorial integrity of the state are projected as violation of human rights. The government is also described in poor light having robbed the resources of the province.

Propaganda themes are:

a. Successive governments have kept Baluchistan deprived and backward and are stealing Baloch mineral resources.

b. Punjab Army is anti-Baloch and has turned Baluchistan into a colony.

c. Army is carrying out genocide of Baloch.

    d. Over 18000 Baloch men and women have gone missing.

e. Agencies and FC are behind forced disappearances of Baloch and kill and dump policy to suppress Baloch people.

CIA, MI-6, RAW, Mossad, Afghan NDS in unison have unremittingly utilized all sorts of covert and overt methods to foment unrest in Baluchistan. Grievances of the Baloch and the issue of missing persons/enforced disappearances and ‘kill and dump policy’ have been relentlessly played up for many years and in this several Pak TV channels, journalists, HRW and human rights activists have been promoting the foreign agenda to discredit intelligence agencies and Frontier Corps Baluchistan. Mama Qadeer who also supports the separatist agenda was lionised by certain TV channels particularly Geo. His long march from Quetta to Karachi and Islamabad from October 2013 till February 2014 in protest of non-recovery of missing persons was given wide publicity. There are hundreds of foreign funded NGOs promoting the cause of Baloch separatists and pursuing foreign agendas.

RAW keeps changing tactics in rapid succession. A year back it hyphenated Pakistan with ISIS/Jehadis through ‘guided’ and misleading interviews. Uploading of a notorious terrorist Allah Nazar’s interview on a RAW-managed Indian propaganda website on ‘Online’ further confirmed the information at hand that India has been training, financing, arming and projecting terrorists to destabilize Pakistan and Afghanistan”. The thrust of the interview revolved around unproven allegations against Pakistan’s LEAs, intelligence agencies and Pak-China relations. Purpose behind it was to subtly gather the sympathies of civil society besides confusing things as the website introduced Allah Nazar as a so-called freedom movement leader fighting against Jehadi elements and ISIS.

Allah Nazar is a terrorist hailing from Awaran, Baluchistan as established after thorough perusal and verification of record of his activities spread over a period of many years. Pak agencies have gathered sufficient evidence which suggests that this person has been enjoying direct support of RAW for committing heinous crimes against humanity viz. killing of men, women and children, attacks on women university students and members of LEAs and blowing up of electric pylons as well as gas pipelines. These insane and murderous acts are being projected as deeds of a liberation movement.

It may be recalled that Allah Nazar and his group BLF continued to harass local population in Awaran, Punjgur and Kech districts for a number of years. However, he fled from the area on arrival of forces during earthquake relief activities in September 2013. People of the area felt immensely relieved after the arrival of forces and on their large scale relief efforts. Since then, Allah Nazar and his likeminded accomplices have fled to other areas known only to Indian RAW from where they are carrying out terrorist activities. Chinese working in Gwadar and other parts of Baluchistan have also been targeted by Baloch terrorists. Besides Allah Nazar, other Baloch rebel leaders living a luxurious life in exile since 2006 are Brahamdagh Bugti and Mehran Marri in Geneva, Hyrbyar Marri and Mir Suleman Khan Daud in London, Dr Khaliq Baloch in Washington.

Most sordid aspect of these anti-Pakistani activities is that they are not only Pakistan-specific but they also target Chinese interests. India is using terrorist elements in Baluchistan to threaten Chinese interests in the development of China-Pak Economic Corridor. The ink on the historic agreement had barely dried up when western media and foreign paid NGOs in Pakistan sprang into action and started drumming up Baluchistan insurgency. Sabeen Mahmud heading 2F NGO in Karachi hosted a seminar focussing on disappearance of Baloch nationalists and to demonise ISI/FC. This topic was initially scheduled in LUMS Lahore, but was cancelled on the intervention of Punjab government. Unfortunate Sabeen was purposely murdered by the schemers on the same day when she was driving home to earn sympathies of the public and to make ISI a suspect.

The next event which coincided with China President’s visit was the interview of Brahamdagh Bugti from Geneva which was given wide publicity by western media. His focal point was his fears about China-Pakistan corridor, which in his jaundiced view was aimed at colonizing Baluchistan. He urged his followers to resist. Late Nawab Akbar Bugti had also started the insurgency in 2004 on the plea that development of Gwadar would be against the interests of the Baloch. Rights activists also stepped up their propaganda accusing security forces of carrying out extra judicial killings of separatists in Baluchistan. Hussain Haqqani wrote an insidious article in Wall Street Journal in this timeframe, while Tariq Fateh sent anti-Pakistan tweets from Delhi. Activation of Baluchistan card indicates the nervousness of detractors of Pakistan who know that the envisaged corridor would drown all the sinister plans hatched by them to denuclearise and balkanise Pakistan.

It must not be forgotten that only a third of population of Baluchistan is Balochi speaking which include Brahvis as well. More numbers of Baloch live in southern Punjab and Sindh who are educated, patriotic and well integrated with rest of people of Pakistan. Great numbers of Baloch youth are joining armed forces and paramilitary forces and trend to get educated is on the rise – thanks to dedicated efforts of the Army. Dr Malick’s regime helped by the federal government is working hard to alleviate the grievances of the Baloch and to bring back the misled Baloch leaders.

Passage of 18th Amendment allowing greater autonomy to provinces, allocation of extraordinary heavy development budget and establishment of nationalist government in Baluchistan has left the insurgents with no ground to grieve and seek independence. Baloch insurgency is made up of handful of insurgent groups, mostly belonging to Bugti, Marri and Mengal tribes and except for Allah Nazar, all other rebel leaders are residing abroad enjoying the hospitality of their patrons. Insurgents represent only a few districts and they have no political party and are highly unpopular. They are disgruntled, exhausted, disenchanted and involved in infighting. Their patrons are vexed and vainly keep counseling them to unite for their lost cause.

Pakistan of today is alive to all these threats and challenges and the sitting government, headed by Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif, the entire political leadership and the army under the command of COAS Gen Raheel Sharif and other services’ chiefs are unanimous and in complete agreement with one another on the policy of ‘no surrender to such nefarious activities’. Establishment of Special Security Division to ensure security of foreign and local workers employed along the corridor is a wise step and will help in frustrating the baleful designs of anti-state elements.
