MNA Disqualified

Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday declared PML-N MNA Khadim Hussain Wattoo ineligible for having fake degree, Geo News reported. Khadim Hussain was elected Member National Assembly (MNA) on PML-N ticket from  Bahawalpur. LHC passed the judgement on a petition filed in August 2010 by Mr. Nawaz Cheema who had  contended that Muhammad Akhter Khadim alias Khadim Hussain Wattoo had always cheated election commission by submitting bogus degrees and adopting dishonest practices in elections from 1985 to 2008.

The MNA has been unseated at a time when the NA itself has been dissolved for completing its tenure. One wonders if the NA had still some more life the ‘honourable’ MNA would have kept enjoying his untouchable status and stature! Anyway, now the question arises that would the salaries and various other expenses incurred on the perks and privileges of the ‘honourable’ member  of most august house of the country for the period that he was its mighty member be recovered from him with interest or not?  Not only that, the matter of one’s proffering a fake and false degree without having honestly passed a certain examination is not an ordinary act of perjury!!  It is a well thought out and planned premeditated crime and committed willfully and with the full knowledge of its perpetrator. Such a scourge of the society must not be left lightly.  He must be punished severely to the utmost and made a horrible example to act as a deterre nt for the others.

S Sajad Haider:The evil mother of all fraudulent elections supervised by jackals’ in charge of Pakistan’s future

Unknown-1Unless the civil society rises from the drugged slumber, Pakistan’s coup de Grace is inevitable as the corrupt, faithless, shot eaters of power and a prostituted opposition comprising reprobates, cowards, and corrupt to their hilt without soul have got the frail? Weak, trembling mom de plume FAKHROO Bhai lacks the courage, conviction and gumption to say boo to the hardened criminals who get degrees from oath commissioner selling stamp papers. The education minister is in the lead. At least write if you believe what sellable pimps are doing threatening the trembling CEC. E.g., NALAIK NAIK and fraudia Nisar Chaudhry. Supreme court’s inextricably shabby conduct in Qadri case for Articles 63-64 and 245 will be no less a watershed in the polluted history of judiciary lead by the charlatan Muhammad Munir Khan of Ayub Khan, Yahya, Bhutto martial laws and reprehensible law of necessity. Armageddon!

In his write-up titled ‘ECP’s blues: Fakhru Bhai should show some spine’ (February 28), Brig (r) Farooq Hameed Khan reiterated what AM (r) Shahid Latif had written in his column last week: a spineless and distinctly dubious Election Commission and an honest but lacking-in-courage chief election commissioner may not be able to ensure fair elections and a level playing field to honest persons with a

strong will to change the direction of Pakistan. The CEC must either justify his appointment and disqualify every single violator of Articles 63 and 64, in particular the tax evaders and loan defaulters, with grit and courage or immediately throw in the towel.

If he fails to fulfill any of the legal and moral obligations, his name will be sullied in perpetuity and the nation will be thrown back in the unclean hands of criminals who have purposefully pushed it into the pits of ignominy.

M Fazal Elahi : Letter in support of Dr Qadri

In support of Dr Qadri

ISLAMABAD: Since the past couple of weeks, the entire country has been abuzz with news of Long March to Islamabad. This march is being led to the capital by none other than Allama Tahiru Qadri, a Pakistani scholar of international acclaim.

Announcement of the long march was made by Mr Qadri during his momentous address to a mammoth gathering of people at the Minar-e-Pakistan on December 23, 2012. Since his address, the Maulana seems to have become a household name in Pakistan. The reason for this is none other than the fact that whatever Mr Qadri has been talking about and demanding from those in power relates to the greater public good.

Undoubtedly, the nation is quite perturbed and to some extent also excited about this new development. Excruciatingly painful circumstances compel them to believe that Mr Qadri is perhaps, the messiah they have been waiting for all these years to resolve all their problems and liberate them from the clutches of the unjust rulers, who have ruled this country for over six decades. While people are excited, those at the citadel of power and those aspiring to be in power seem to be extremely anxious. They all agree on at least one point: that whatever Mr Qadri is talking about and demanding is what is urgently required to be done. They do not, however, believe that he is sincere in bringing about the change that he has been so vociferously asserting at all his recent speeches and press conferences.

These political groups also have doubts about Mr Qadri’s abilities to govern this country and blame him for playing with the emotions of the people through his use of rhetoric. Yet, another element that seems to be seriously tormenting the politicians of this country is the fear that Mr Qadri has, perhaps, come with a foreign agenda to derail democracy in Pakistan and pave the way for the non-democratic forces to grab power.

Whatever Mr Qadri’s detractors may say about him, the fact remains that he is talking about bringing true democracy to Pakistan, giving the people of this country the right to basic amenities of life; education, health, food, shelter and employment as enshrined in the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, implementing all the clauses of the Constitution of Pakistan in letter and in spirit, empowering the masses to elect the right people to parliament, and empowering the chief election commissioner and the Election Commission of Pakistan to conduct free and fair elections.

Can anyone deny that all that Mr Qadri is saying is what has never been done, in tangible terms, before and needs to be done urgently? Can anyone also deny that true progress and prosperity of this nation and this country largely depend on implementing the measures that he is demanding be enacted? The appropriate thing to do at this critical juncture for like-minded and sincere elements belonging to all political groups, is to join hands and take the country and the people out of the quagmire they are at present in.

The journey may be long and arduous but for the sake of this country and this nation, it will have to be undertaken no matter what it takes.
