I stopped by my chemist the other day, trying to catch him before he took his annual two-week holiday home to Iraq. With tears in his eyes, he told me that the situation there was at the point where he could not take his children anymore. The carnage at Karachi airport fresh in my mind, I extended my sympathies.

“The difference is”, he said, “Pakistan has a strong army and intelligence to fight these animals. We in Iraq have nothing”.

A stranger in a strange land can see what Pakistan’s elite cannot: the barrier to the bloodthirsty hordes is Pakistan’s armed forces. Most (soldiers) go to meet their Maker leaving behind only young orphans and pitiful pensions. No plots or perks for many (soldiers). Yet these (soldiers) are the people who are denigrated day after day.

There is much hue and cry over Pakistani politician Alt​a​af Hussain’s arrest in London. But British MP, George Galloway, says in a DW interview that Hussain must pay the price for ‘his crimes.’ Altaf Hussain was arrested by the British police in London on Tuesday, June 3, on suspicion of money-laundering.
 

​Galloway: ‘The majority of Pakistanis are happy that Hussain has been arrested’

 
George Galloway, a British Member of Parliament, has been campaigning for Hussain’s arrest for many years. He even set up a fund to start a legal case against Hussain. In a DW interview, Galloway explains why he thinks Hussain should be sent back to Pakistan.
 
Deutsche Welle (DW): What were your initial reactions to Hussain’s arrest?
 
George Galloway: I was very happy that he had been arrested. At the same time, I feel sorry and fearful for the people of Karachi. The angry reaction to his detention in Hussain’s political stronghold Karachi is worrying. For a long time, I have been concerned about Hussain’s activities in London. I shared it with other members of the British parliament during the previous government. I told them that Altaf Hussain was Karachi’s godfather, who had been exercising his power from London to promote terrorism in his home country.
 
A year ago, I demanded that the government prosecute Altaf Hussain and said I would otherwise bring forth a private investigation. But the authorities ensured me that the police investigation of the MQM’s leader’s activities was serious and would lead to the kind of development we saw this week.
 
DW: Do you think the British police should have arrested him earlier?
 
GG: Yes. There is ample evidence of his crimes in every single speech he makes from London to Karachi via telephone. In his speeches, he incites violence and threatens his opponents openly. I wish the British authorities would have arrested him earlier.
 
DW: Hussain has been accused of much bigger crimes than money-laundering such as the murder of his aide Imran Farooq. Shouldn’t he have been arrested for these allegations?
 
GG: Well, the murder inquiry is ongoing. Don’t forget Al Capone, the American gangster – he was held on tax evasion charges, albeit he was involved in more serious crimes. The same is true for Altaf Hussain. I believe the murder inquiry may lead to charges against several people.
 
DW: What role did you play in Hussain’s arrest?
 
GG: The political pressure I exerted, particularly in the past year, created an atmosphere where the authorities became confident to take action.
 
DW: Why did you get involved in this in the first place?
 
GG: For the past two years, I have represented the Bradford West constituency in parliament. The area has tens of thousands of British citizens of Pakistani origin. Also, I have a long association with Pakistan. The Pakistani government has conferred two of the country’s highest civil awards on me. What happens in Pakistan matters to me. I am also concerned about the honor of my own country, and I believe that Britain did the wrong thing by harbouring Hussain.
 
DW: Why do you think Hussain should not be allowed to stay in the UK? He is a British citizen after all.
 
The British government changed the law for glass-eyed Islamic preacher Abu Hamza and it has the power to revoke people’s passports. They should do the same in Altaf Hussain’s case.
 
DW: Will the arrest have an impact on British-Pakistani relations?
 
GG: I think the majority of Pakistanis are happy that Hussain has been arrested. The political leadership, however, doesn’t feel the same, and people are questioning it in Pakistan. It is strange that Pakistan’s political parties, with the exception of Imran Khan’s Tehreek-i-Insaaf, have reacted sympathetically towards Altaf Hussain in the aftermath of his detention. Perhaps, some of them now fear that they might be next to be investigated by Britain for their enormous wealth in the UK.
 
DW: Is there a possibility that British authorities might release him because of diplomatic ties with Pakistan?
 
GG: No, now he is a British citizen and he must face charges under the British law for offences committed in Britain.
 
DW: Do you think Hussain’s arrest is the beginning of a long trial against him?
 
GG: Now when the authorities are able to question the Pakistani leader properly, I am confident that police will follow the proper legal procedure. The maximum penalty for money-launder​​ing in Britain is 14 years in prison.
 
DW: Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said on June 4 that Altaf Hussain’s arrest was a legal matter, and that his government was extending its “legal and moral assistance” to the detained leader. Have there been any attempts made by Islamabad to get him released? 
 
GG: The statement by Sharif is bizarre. It is sadly degrading for Pakistan that its premier made such a statement.

Pakistan like many other countries is striving to get a positive image for one reason or the other. One can spell out a number of reasons. On top is sectarianism and extremism which has become plague for our society. Then is the law and order situation, frequency of murders and thefts and all such crimes. However, this doesn’t suggest that things are not under control. There are good people and good things to report. It must be admitted that human societies have their limitations. Freedom, justice and equality are only ideals. Total justice and peace is not humanly possible. Instead of looking at it in a negative way, one should look at those negatives with a glass half-full approach, and one should realize that spreading positivity instead of deprivation and scarcity would serve the cause better as we all hold responsibility being nationals to our homeland. Man will only remain on the right track if a mental discipline is shaped by education and if there is a fear of law, justice and punishment, in short dispense of justice without fear or favor. If a society enjoys justice and fair play it will surely portray soft image.
If our social, economic and administrative systems work reasonably and efficiently no harm can come to Pakistan. If all get justice and feel secure no one will think of any criminal activities. Every citizen must have confidence in its justice system. There can be no peace without justice and no civilized society without education. In the absence of justice and literacy no one can vision of credibility of sound reputation of the country.
Apparently Pakistan’s softer image is being portrayed by book releases, rock concerts and exhibitions nationally either internationally. Somehow we misunderstood the reality that the solution lies to the problems of country. We can somehow fix this problem by altering our international image of being naïve along with gratified and full of pride of our own culture and traditions. We have to come out of copying and competing others thereafter. If we can value our own culture and traditions showcasing higher values and norms with self-dignity only then we can gently put others on the track of respecting our culture and traditions in reciprocation. 
Pakistan is making all sorts of efforts to tackle deadly hazard of terrorism not only for its own good but for the whole world. Terrorism could only be defeated through dialogue, as it was the only way to eliminate terrorism where the outcome of using power would produce no positive results but would aggravate the situation. Unfortunately the western world is not giving Pakistan its due credit. It keeps on highlighting only those things through which the image of the country can be damaged and their national interests get served. More fuel is been added by next-door enemy India whose psychological warfare has always put serious harm to our country both nationally and internationally. But would it serve sensible if we keep waiting for due credit. Putting aside unhygienic debate of our war or others war enforced on our country and steered by our forces, political leaders should get our unparalleled sacrifices and unshaken resolve acknowledged by international world regardless of opposition’s propaganda which has been going since years and will keep going. 
Pakistan’s soft image can be portrayed through three resources i.e. culture economy and media. Pakistan is not being able to attract the western world through its historical and cultural heritage. Pakistan has great heritage from North to South. Tourism can bring a big change and can play a pivotal role. Cultural events, exchange programs, broadcasting or teaching country’s language and promoting country’s culture and society can be used as soft tools. Basant and Valentine’s Day celebrations will not help. We are in dire need of culture of tolerance in Pakistan but anything against the true spirit of Islam needs to be discouraged. Pakistan must think to start exchange programs between students. Teachers must be welcome from abroad to teach their language to young students in Pakistan and vice versa. Science and technology must be given high preferences. Helping other countries in disasters and emergency situations can prove our soft side instead of highlighting and pretending miseries in the greed of getting aid from international world. Government should stay alive to the issues of backwardness, unemployment and economic deprivation in the country and keep striving to address these through judicious distribution of resources.
People buy brands not products, this is an age old fact acknowledged by the researchers of the world. We need to develop our brand reputed Pakistan. Almost every other country is associated with its national characteristics. Italy is associated with style, Japan with technology, India with history and culture, so our efforts with branding must be guided to find our economic role. Here comes the question how we can package our self. The media particularly electronic media can play a major role. We need to have more of English news channels to have more international audience. Media has hyped bad news and have made it look like a demon.This does not mean that nothing good has happened or is happening. The only prevailing fact that bad news is more newsworthy than good news. Media has played a huge part in this feeling of desperation by mainly reporting bad news and harping on it. Calling the same idiots for discussions on prime time every day is hardly a way of finding solutions tour myriad problems. Media seems to be shunning every positive news because it is not sexy and gets no TRPs or advertising.We all know that publicity is what a company or individual receives when something prominent happens and when the notable event is good, the publicity usually attracts new client and gives the company something to brag about in future.We as a nation have to say that yes we are going through bad times and all of us in some way or other are contributors to this. Let’s all now resolve to get out of this rut by doing sincerely and honestly what our individual jobs are before we point fingers at others. We need to be more focused and targeted as generic strategies “Be Pakistani, buy Pakistani” “East or West, Pakistan is the best” will not work anymore.

If US & West want to win the hearts and minds of next generation of Pakistani elite, they need to uncouple from the ill-conceived Indo-Centric South Asia Policy.Pakistan is a major Islamic Nation and a Nuclear & Ballistic Missile Power. West is perceived as meddler in Pakistan politics and elections,imposing incompetent but Pro-Western Leaders like the highly unpopular leader Nawaz Sharif.This article is being published as an advice to Western Intelligence & Think Tanks,who lurk or Troll this site to give this message to their bosses.  Western Think Tanks & Talking Heads Are least bit competent to talk and make judgements about a complex nation like Pakistan.  Most of their judgements are hovering around naivete or near boundaries of stupidity.  Their agents in Pakistani Intelligentsia will give them what they would like to hear.

Nuns in Tamil ado of India were burned alive in a church and for next 6 hours the church was burning did any Indian channel or CNN or BBC show that. In France 700 cars were burned in one day…

Zee India never showed killing of Kashmir’s and the attack on GOLDEN TEMPLE, killing of Sikhs in Indian soil. How many Israeli channel soil shows killing by Israeli soldiers? When they kill Palestinians? ? Have you ever seen Indian president or politician been given GALEE on TV channel during live coverage?

When they were not able to broadcast the 8 hour cricket match they said they lost 1 billion rupee and just imagine without any money just for free they were broadcasting judge activity for free, Nawaz Sharif for free and Benazir for free. All… all 36 hour coverage just for free? By a private channel!
11. 50 percent Indian dramas on g and 25 p p geo percent with mix cast (Indian and Pakistani) and Indian films (which are ban in Pakistani cinema are been broadcasted by Geo). Geo did not share any good news like Islamabad, Peshawar and Lahore Motorway etc but instead it showed dead people in Karachi…. they never discuss 5.1 billion dollar of oil refinery in Pakistan. Why USA only emphasizing on reopening GEO where Aaj and ARY also banned? How come Hamid Meer came on BBC and said openly Musharraf killed GEO?
12. A COUNTRY WHERE 60 percent of population cannot read and never been to school media must not be free… because they can just tamper with the minds of the people. And shape the nations people view the way they want. Why does Geo generally show the Indian version of events and why does its news sound like a translation of CNN news? Geo’s dangerous Geo s general policies are the main reason that the Pakistan was not allowing Geo to resume its transmission. Amazingly Geo is now starting a new “English News” channel to continue its activities against the country. Where is the funding for this entire coming from?

GEO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CRASH OF THE STOCK MARKET: Geo repeatedly telecasted false news about the Pakistani economy, the political situation and hence the y p stock market crashed in Pakistan In a pre- orchestrated campaign. Geo focuses on the negative news and instead of focusing on solutions it shows bodies of dead people in contradiction of PEMRA and all decency requirements. In a planned manner Geo suppresses and ignores good news like 5.1 billion dollar of oil refinery in Pakistan and $28 Billion Emar international island development.
14. Geo does not focus foreign interference in Pakistani g affairs. Geo focuses on showing beheading of people and other depressing news. Geo plays into the hands of the opposition parties. It does not discuss opportunities for development. Geo completely ignored the Indian terrorism in Kashmir. Discussion of Kashmir, Manavadar, Junagarh are non-existent on Geo. Most Geo maps show Kashmir as part of Pakistan. Azad Kashmir is never shown. Some Geo maps sill show the Northern Areas as part of India or part of Kashmir.
15. GEO TEAM OBJECTIVES IN PAKISTAN To take full power of Pakistan by power full media in hands.  To implement and defends JEWS and Indian policies in Pak. To destroy economy of Pakistan. To bring awareness and soft image about Anti-Christ (Dajjal) GEO logo’s, the arrival of Dajjal.

20. Geo TV telecast Indian movie and shows live in Pakistan to make a soft corner and love for Indian and destroying the culture of Pakistan by bringing Indian culture. INDIA cannot become our friend, they divide Pakistan into two parts, currently involves terrorism in Pakistan by training in Indian embassies Afghanistan.
21. “AMAN KI ASHA” a new episode and fake story to hide Indian terrorism in Pakistan. How can Indian become our friend! Indian media regularly crisis and make jokes of AMAN KI ASHA, video available at YouTube. Geo is earning million of dollar from Indian lobby for making this special program.

33. Tourism is big industry of Pakistan and is paradise for the tourist; there is tourism points in Chitral, Swat, Upper Dir, Naran and Kaghan, Gilgit and Buner. Geo can make a separate channel for our tourism industry to create a good image of Pakistan in international but not! Because it represents Anti‐Pak lobby will not pay for it.
34. GEO TACTICS: Most of the suicide attacks are claimed by the name of TALIBANS by geo TV f by TV. When peoples feel that Geo is promoting frustration, and despondence in a nation, they start favoring Pakistan to make again their image better, time-to-time.
