First Lady – Kulsoom Nawaz Rs 2,500,000 Yves St Laurent Purse

LETTER TO EDITOR

November 17th, 2016

Kulsoom Nawaz Rs 2,500,000 Yves St Laurent Purse

Kulsoom Nawaz Rs 2,500,000 Yves St Laurent Purse

First Lady

During the meeting between Mrs. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan  (the visiting First Lady of Turkey) and Mrs. Kalsoom Nawaz, with a Rs 2,500,000 Yves St Laurent Purse; the later was also being referred to as the First Lady (of Pakistan).  This became rather conspicuous when during the meeting with the wife of the Pakistan president, she was just referred to as Mrs. Mamnoon only. As per the universal protocol the First Lady is the wife of the Head of the State (President) and not that of the Head of the Government. However, Pakistan is the only country in the world where it is the other way around. This strange practice owes it birth to ZAB who while stepping down from the presidency to the premiership in 1972 brought all the presidential (Head of the State) protocol with him to the PM House.  It included flying of Pakistan Flag on his car, playing of the National Anthem on his official appearances, a Brigadier/Major General  Military Secretary, a couple of ADCs (grammatically AsDC) and similar some other presidential perks and privileges of course not forgetting the First Lady. In no other democratic country of the world including India the PM is entitled to any such privileges. But the Pakistan is Pakistan.

Incidentally, what if the wife happens to be the PM like Benazir Bhutto ?  Was AAZ called as the First Gentleman ?!

Blunders  of Nawaz Sharif in his THIRD tenure so far (2013 – 2015)

This is Nawaz Shareef’s third tenure as a Prime Minister of Pakistan and look like he has gained very little in respect to the political maturity, international affairs awareness and leadership vision. In this short blogs i will try to highlight few of his biggest blunders according to my opinion and will try to explain what he did wrong.

Change of Route of Pak-China Economic Corridor

Pak-China Economic Corridor is one of the most forward looking economic project of Nawaz Shareef’s current tenure. In a sense i feel its the need of the hour not only for economy of Pakistan but its security stability and unity. Road not only bring traffic but also economic activity, prosperity to the land and also reduce hatred and terrorism. According to the original plan the economic corridor was suppose to go through Balochistan and KPK into the china. Currently all Pakistan’s infrastructure is present on the eastern side and this economic corridor will provide much needed infrastructure development on the western side. Western side is also the side troubled with terrorism and sense of depravity and this development will increase the harmony and reduce the terrorism.

But recently PML-N decided to change the route and take it through Lahore. Lahore already is over populous and full of infrastructure and this would have created more chaos and congestion to the over crowded city.

Then the mistake over the mistake was the statement they give for the change of route that the security was lacking. There are two problems with this statement. Is PML-N not in government? do they not plan to improve the security? and secondly are the not giving the message that only Punjab is safe.? so are they acknowledging that their government has failed in improving security and have no plan to improve the security.

Thirdly this project is multi billion rather trillion ruppee project once the road is finalized you cant just pick it up and take it somewhere else so one excuse should not over shadow other important gains like giving the strategic depth, development of the western side, improvement of the harmony among people by improving travelling. opening new routes. enabling the development of the under developed areas and so many more benefits.

Cyber Security Bill

Cyber Security Bill is also one of the high level blunder. This is one of the most ill concived bill in which freedom of speech is restricted and this will give rise to more anti-government sentiments. Social Media was one of the few places where government managed to get some support against the dharna politics of Imran Khan Now they are trying to block it and it will hurt them more in the future then gaining them anything in the present. Most form of the criticism is blocked according to this bill.

I am not against having some restrictions but according to the bill even making political cartoons is a crime. The other issue is the government has not given his view. If they have all these points in the bill for some specific reason then they should commnicate to the masses. But unfortunately tnawaz shareef lack of democratic views and keeping quiet s hurting more than serving him

Enactment of Military Courts

This is one of the biggest blunder of internal politics. The PML-N enactment of military courts is a message that government is incapable and cannot fix the judicial system of the country. If we go by this logic then the government should not criticize dictatorship or dictators because they also believe that democratic system has not produced results for Pakistan and therefore dictators should be allowed to the govern Pakistan. There government says that democracy should be given time to strengthen then why not give time and direction and make effort to fix the judicial system of Pakistan also to make it more effective.?

Failure to understand Sindh

Although federal government is considered to be representative of all Pakistan and PML-N also waste no time in saying that it got votes and seats in all provinces o the Pakistan but its hidden thing that PML-N is highly disliked by people of Karachi in unanimity. Looking at various steps of the ruling party PML-N it come as no surprise.

Firstly they have highly incapable president of Sindh PML-N. A president of sindh PML-N can not win his own seat even a provincial seat. He has no backing plus he is notorious. Secondly the the mentality of Karachi voter is highly different then the thinking of Punjabi voter.

Secondly just before the election PML-N included candidates or made alliances with the parties who were notorious and with little support on the ground. After these parties lost they again split  from PML-N. So instead of giving exposure to some of their own capable candidate they relied on external unreliable support. Then PML-N Sindh has no voice and even when rarely they make a statement they make a stupid one.

Lack of Foreign Minister

May be in its effort to keep the government size manageable PML-N federal government tried to restrict the number of ministers. But not appointing a dedicated Foreign Minister PML-N just shows that either they are incapable of understanding foreign affairs. ? or they lack a good personality to handle foreign affairs or foreign affairs matters are not in their control. All three meanings shows a blunder and nothing else on PML-N part

They also have some of the worst ministers in IT. Even water and power minister have failed to end load shedding or give a clear vision.

Large delays in Appointing on Key Posts

Nawaz Shareef seems to be incapable of making a decision. Number of key bureaucratic and head of departments post which required agreement with opposition leader like chairman NAB takes a long long time in getting appointment. They get appointed in the end because of strict warnings from the Supreme Court Judges. When a person is incapable of simply appointing key positions with honest and well reputed people in timely fashion then it leaves a big question mark on his decision making skills.

Development of Lahore Karachi Motorway

I am always pro infrastructure projects. but there has to be limit to the amount of such projects especially if its destroying your most fertile land and giving no benefit at all. There are now number of links from Lahore to Multan so developing yet another road from Lahore to Multan for Lahore Karachi motorway is simply like cutting your limb. Pakistan already is facing heaving reduction in agricultural land. We just need to develop the missing roads between Lahore Karachi and should use the existing infrastructure as much as possible.

Yemen Affair:

Without having a dedicated foreign minister its no surprise that PML-N made number of blunders on Yemen Affair. Yemen affair has number of significance. Our trusted friend Saudi Arabia first time asked for help. Nawaz Shareef agreed to provide this help. Suddenly media started maligning campaign against this issue, openly accusing Nawaz Shareef under personal gains helping Saudi Arabia without realizing that our existence is largely thanks to Saudi Arabia help which have never shied from helping us in our time of trouble.

Blunder 1: Government gives no directives to media not malign our trusted friend. (When Musharraf sent NS to Saudi Arabia under the deal he directed media not malign Saudi Arabia in this affair)

Blunder 2: Under pressure from Media and probably Army, Nawaz shareef tried to back track from its commitment and for this calls a joint session. This joint session started talking foul about Saudi Arabia. It is Saudi that helped us when we were put under economic sanctions and its Saudia that has helped monetarily whenever we asked. The joint session speakers started speaking in favor of Iran who deliberately tried to roll back our nuclear program by informing about our help to Iran. Dr. Abdul Qadeer father of Pakistan nuclear capability is penalized because of Iran’s effort.

Nawaz Shareef should have called a meeting with the parliamentary leaders and should have given them directives not to use any foul languages against our trusted Saudi friends

Nawaz Shareef should atleast have told his own party members that they should not take a position against Saudi Arabia.

Blunder 3: Iran FM visited Pakistan and Saudi Arabia also announced to send its representative to Pakistan.. PM after meeting the Iranian FM passes resolution in the join session regarding Yemen conflict which sound n favor or Iranian point of view before even the meeting with the Saudi delegation is held. So a message is sent to our friend that dont come we have already accepted Iran point of view. A country which has number of times violated our sovereignty and killed our soldiers. What a stupid message to give our friend Saudi Arabia.

Blunder 4: When our friends gave a well deserved harsh response to our parliamentary resolution then our Interior Minister who is mostly missing and never found giving a statement on matters related to interior minister gave an even more damaging response. Come on cant the Prime Minister tell his minister to shut up instead of burning to ashes our friendship with the most loyal friends.

Blunder 5: When some section of media highlighted the contribution of Saudi Arabia after our nuclear blast, PML-N finance minister gave a statement in denial of those gifts and concessions and contribution. So now we showed to our friend that we are one undeserving and inconsiderate friend.

Just to wrap up. I feel that Nawaz Shareef is far from the leader the Pakistan needs at this time. His decision making leaves a lot to be desired. He lacks total understanding of foreign affairs. His political skills and political sense are very weak and incapable of developing further. This may turn out to be the bigger threat for PML-N then any other party including PTI

Pakistan’s progress is slow due to corruption and incompetence in country: CJP

Pakistan’s progress is slow due to corruption and incompetence in country: CJP

CJP

Pakistan’s steps toward progress and prosperity are being slowed down by corruption and incompetence, said Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali on Saturday.

Addressing the Azad Kashmir Judicial Conference 2016 at a reception here, the chief justice said the country could be put on the path to progress and prosperity by eliminating corruption and incompetence.

He said 60 percent of cases had been pending with the high court’s for a long time and the main reasons for the backlog were incompetence, negative thinking, and corruption in government departments.

He said 20 percent cases were pending in the courts due to mala fide intentions, egotism and the case for case trend.

He said judges were the servants of the masses and not their rulers.  He said the attitude of judges towards the parties should be positive, God-fearing, tolerant and amicable during the hearing of cases.

He further added that peace was impossible without a judicial system and that self-accountability was inevitable for good governance. “Since judges perform a sacred duty, their attitude should be positive in the courts,” he said.

Justice Jamali said improvement could be brought in the judicial system through the use of the latest technology and there was also a need to benefit from the experiences of other countries in this regard. He said corruption and incompetence were eating the country like termites.

Justice Jamali said Kashmiris must be allowed to exercise their right to self-determination in accordance with the UN resolutions. He said the Muslim countries were facing conspiracies from outside while inside they faced chaos.

He said the bar was an important part of the judicial system and therefore the duties of its members were manifold.

“Creation of an effective society is impossible without flushing out basic social ailments,” he added.  He said it was the responsibility of judges to change their attitude and fulfill the requirements of the Constitution and the law.

He urged the bar to cooperate with the judiciary in order to improve the judicial system.

CJP urged the bar not to pressurise judges so that the court proceedings could be completed in a pleasant atmosphere.   Chief Justice of Azad Jammu and Kashmir also addressed the conference.

SHARIF FAMILY ASSETS

SHARIF FAMILY ASSETS

Americans agreed to work together with Zardari and Nawaz Sharif. News

The central question is when did the London property was purchased in 2006 or much earlier and in whose name?

The No 17 apartment at Avenfield House was purchased in 1993 when Hussain was doing his LLM. The family has lived in that 5 bedroom apartment eversince. Later, 17 A the apartment next door was purchased. The No 16 Apartment, right opposite to No 17 was purchased in 1999. Was said to be owned by Shehbaz Sharif. No 16 has been on rent from time to time. Then in 2006, the No 16 went to NS. These properties have changed ownerships several times since then making it nearly impossible to follow the transactions.

The First daughter says she has only one asset – a BMW gifted by a Gulf ruler. Did she hand it over to the treasury and paid nominal amount to own it? Car gift because of being PM’s daughter she received from a Middle Eastern Ruler, did she hand it over to the state.

The black BMW 650 convertible sports car model 2005 was owned by NS in London. He had it shipped to Karachi in November 2007, a couple of weeks before their arrival in Pakistan. It was never a gift from any Gulf ruler. The cars history can be confirmed from British motor registration authority by simply sending the chassis number.

The Saudi govt however gifted a bullet proof car model 2007, MB S-600 to NS, when he arrived in Pakistan, which is not even in the news. As such no custom duty was paid by NS on this S class. The saudi embassy probably got the taxes exempted.

Everything is know to everyone concerned but nothing will happen to the Sharifs. A determined Gen. Musharraf and his team knew much more than that but could do nothing except build weak cases which were never proceeded with.

 Hussain Nawaz on Geo

Hussain Nawaz came on Geo & Express because Indian Express, a well read Indian newspaper, that obviously got access to the Panama Leaks, called him to explain his name in the leaks. Knowing that the cat is out of the bag, he tried to counter it by admitting the ownership prior to the news breaking in Pakistan.

1. How come Hussain, who was never visible except when they would accompany father in trips to India, China and Turkey to meet business people, suddenly erupted into action a month ago and unleashed series of TV interviews to explain his position?

It is evident he came to know about the upcoming leaks from questions received from media including the News.

2. The central question is when did the London property was purchased in 2006 or much earlier and in whose name? If we correlate the issue with Hudaibya Paper Mill case which exposed Sharifs as owners in the London High Court judgment in 1998. The Raymond W Baker Book Both Sharif Brothers were shown as owners and paid dues when Parkland property was attached. Offshore companies’ names became known and payments were made through intricate man oeuvres. It was then that daughter Mariam’s name also figured. Raymond W Baker’s book Capitalism’s Achilles Heel which traces their wealth was also published at that time.

3. When were the names of Nawaz and Shahbaz removed from record? Did he go to Saudi Arabia to tamper and straighten record including sources and dates of funding?

4: what has been Father’s activities in London which he visited about 70 times during last two year at state expense? Why does he invariably makes a stopover in London during every visit to US or Europe while coming and going? Even the Charsadda tragedy did not interrupt that schedule. Is the premier using these visits to exploit his position to promote children’s business in clear conflict of interest?
At that time while the university was drenched in blood, he did not return and stayed back just to tell an investment conference how safe and attractive Pakistan was for investment.

5. Opening Offshore companies may not be illegal but it is important that through them the movement of assets and resources has to be scrutinized to ascertain sources. How these assets were purchased and who provided funding?

6. Trustee may not be beneficiary but cannot hold shares as is evident in case of First Daughter. Her husband did not disclose her asset and financial dealings.

7. It is not difficult to open a regular company in London. It is very simple it can be done in one day so why dubious ways were adopted to open several offshore companies. To evade/avoided taxes and other details. How much tax the children and earlier NS and Shahbaz saved or paid?

8. To the valid question as to the children do not bring their untold wealth to invest in homeland when the father asks others to do that, a funny explanation has been given. It would have raised objections that the children would have been accused of using influence of father and uncle. Then why Hamza Shahbaz, Salman are doing extensive and varied businesses including monopolizing poultry and dairy business to ensure they get special tax concessions from ‘uncle Dar’ and yet push prices to dizzy height for poor common people. Also being filthy rich they could launch charity institutions in the country if not do business.

9.   The way the children have earned billions of pounds and amassed wealth from modest resources make them geniuses. The father should display patriotism and bring them to Pakistan to use their wiz dry in enriching the country. The First Daughter is non filer and claims to be dependent on father at state expense. Who has no source of income himself and lives in mother’s house. Uncle also does not have and house of his own and lives in Wife’s house.

10.  The First daughter says she has only one asset – a BMW gifted by a Gulf ruler. Did she hand it over to the treasury and paid nominal amount to own it? Car gift because of being PM’s daughter she received from a Middle Eastern Ruler, did she hand it over to the state.

11. Did Capt. Safdar disclose the off shore company of his wife in his declaration when contesting election?

12.  If everything was legal, nothing prevented NS to declare their children’s assets to possess high moral position before the people no matter whether it was legally incumbent or not.

13.  Much is made of Ittefaq Foundry asset. It was nationalized by Bhutto along with other major industries in 1970s. Gen. Zia slammed his nationalization policy. But through Ghulam Ishaq Khan, the only industry that was privatized was Ittefaq. It was owned by six brothers. How was it worth in 1981 when Sharif became finance minister? This can been demonstrated through disclosure how much tax was paid after that. There was phenomenal/ dizzy growth of only Sharifs. After becoming PM is multiplied further. Rules were amended to promote Ittefaq at the cost of Heavy Mechanical Complex and also destroyed world’s second biggest Ship Breaking industry in Baluchistan.

14. What were the ages of Hussain, Hasan, and Mariam in 1992?

15. The Government should refer the matter to World Bank and request it to track the funding of off shore companies because it has efficient mechanism for that.

The issue must be raised through public rallies (in the court of the people), media, assemblies and various other forums piece by piece.
