What Imran Khan and the March 23 rally will bring us

What Imran Khan and the March 23 rally will bring us

March 22, 2013

I’m predicting the rally tomorrow to be one of the largest, if not the largest ever rally in the history of the country! PHOTO: REUTERS

The importance of the coming elections cannot be overstated. Pakistan today stands on the point of implosion and the kind of leadership that is elected to take the country forward could make or break it.

My loyalties in this matter lie with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and I’m writing this to present my reasons for handing the party my vote and what I think you should expect tomorrow at Minar-e-Pakistan.

Internal democracy.

When a party is democratic then it is full of elected position holders. This means the leadership has integrity and mandate. More importantly it means they have more pressure to deliver because they would, in the future, have to fight for their position again. An elected leader has the power of command and respect which a nominated leader does not.

The leadership has declared their assets and uploaded the information to the party’s website.

Pakistan’s administration is full of corrupt, tax evaders. This gesture therefore is unique and very praiseworthy. Pakistanis are amongst the highest payers of charity and the country has one of the lowest tax to GDP ratios. This dissonance can only mean that people are not inspired to pay taxes because of a lack of trust. I don’t really blame the people either.

Who would pay their taxes when 70% of our parliamentarians do not themselves pay, and when no sign of efficient and productive use of tax payer’s money has been shown?

Detailed policy papers prior to election.

This again is, and was unprecedented in Pakistan. Calling an education emergency and trebling the budget for education were refreshing announcements. It was also heart-warming to hear policies on neglected issues such as the environment and disabled people.

Commitment to harmony and equality.

When the Ahmadi place of worship was attacked three years ago, Imran Khan visited the injured in the hospital and vowed to stand by the Ahmadis, protect them and end the power of the state to decide if certain sects could be counted as Muslim or not.

When the genocide against the Shia community began, the PTI leadership visited scholars and leaders of the Shia community to show solidarity. Imran Khan has also travelled to Quetta twice; once for a rally and more recently a month ago to openly condemn Lashkar-e-Jhangvi and show solidarity with the Hazara community.

A few days ago Khan visited Joseph Colony in Badami Bagh where hundreds of homes of Christians had been burnt by an angry mob. The PTI is the only party to stand by the defenceless minorities in Pakistan. Be their philosophy religious or ethnic.

Impressive personalities that are a part of the team.

Asad Umar resigned as chairman of Engro in April 2012 to join the PTI. Umar worked for Engro for 30 years and transformed the firm from a mere chemical company to a giant conglomerate. He left his position at Engro where he was the highest paid CEO in the country at a salary of almost Rs6 million a month – to work for the betterment of Pakistan with the PTI. In 2010 he received the Sitara-i-Imtiaz for his business achievements.

Another example is the appointment in May 2012 of Azeem Ibrahimas the strategic policy advisor. Ibrahim holds a PhD from Cambridge and has served as a scholar at Harvard and Yale. He was named as one of the Top 100 Global Thinkers of 2009 by the LSDP European Social Think Tank and has advised over half a dozen world leaders.

The counter-terrorism policy.

The PTI is the only party to comprehensively address the situation of terrorism in Pakistan and provide a solution. Eight years of military action have only succeeded in creating more militants because the root causes of the issue have never been looked at.

Disengaging from the US war on terror, hence ending the Jihad narrative used by the terrorists to recruit displaced and homeless tribal locals looking for revenge, will help isolate retaliating Pashtuns from hard core terrorists who would be eliminated by force. The PTI addresses the issue, identifies the complexities and elements involved and presents a solution. Its competition in this matter is non-existent.

Imran Khan and what’s to come tomorrow.

The best part of Khan’s life has been nothing short of selfless service to Pakistan. He chose this life of struggle over a life of luxury. His philanthropic works in addition to his sporting achievements makes very few Pakistani’s doubt his intentions, integrity and ability. In comparison we have criminals, corrupt officials and fundamentalists.

With the Tehreek-e-Insaf’s intra party elections taken care of and the organisation complete, it is time for a show of power.

PTI rally at Minar-e-Pakistan on March 23

I’m predicting the rally tomorrow to be one of the largest, if not the largest ever rally in the history of the country!

There will be people from every walk of life, every segment of society, every religion and every ethnicity Pakistan has to offer. The rally is going to be one of the rare moments that a true representation of Pakistan’s society will stand in unity and with purpose. Tomorrow is going to be the beginning of a short movement that will be remembered for ages as the tipping point of Pakistan’s politics. Tomorrow is going to be a day of pride, patriotism, optimism and most importantly hope. Tomorrow will give every Pakistani hope and maybe if nothing, that’s what the Tehreek-e-Insaf can offer you. The hope that it’s not too late, that you have the power to change everything and that Pakistan not only has a future, but a bright one.

The fourth week of March is a historic and spiritual time. The Persian New Year and the spring equinox both fall in this period. This is known as a time of new beginnings, where the cold dark sadness of winter ends and is replaced by the emergence of blossoming flowers and the sunlight of spring.

God-willing March 23, will be the beginning of the road towards a new Pakistan.

A Pakistan where we all feel safe, a Pakistan where we all feel proud and a Pakistan in which there will always be ‘insaf’. Let’s be optimistic and let’s have hope.

Let’s take Pakistan and go, as Shakespeare said,

“To unpathed waters, undreamed shores”.

LETTER TO PTT: YET ANOTHER JOKE WITH PUNJABIS, NAWAZ SHARIF’S KASHMIRI KHAWAJA BIRADARI NEPOTISM & FAVOURITISM

YET ANOTHER JOKE WITH PUNJABIS

Kashmiri Biradari Politics of Nawaz Sharif

The extent of the caliber of Sharif Brothers and  bias  in their hearts toward ordinary people of Punjabi’s  is blatantly exposed in the composition of a team mandated on behalf of PML-N  to discuss future Care taker Prime Minister of Pakistan with the government.

A notorious gang of four known Gowalmandi  goons are nominated by Don Sharif to  negotiate &  to decide the future Prime Minister.

THIS TEAM OF THUGS COMPRISES OF THE FOLLOWING:

  1.                     Khawaja Asif
  2.                     Khawaja Saad Rafique
  3.                     Khawaja Tariq
  4.                     Khawaja pervaiz.

What a sorry state of affairs for the Punjabis to know that out of entire Punjab there is not even a single Punjabi worth to trust by SHARIFS.  No matter how much sacrifices one may give for these nincompoops but they will always prefer their own Kashmiri Ganda Anda over other true PUNJABIS.

Be it Guhlam Hyder Wayne Mahroom, Khawaja Zaheer or General Zaiuddin Butt, one should only be of Kashmiri Clan, on other ordinary Punjabi they will never trust.

SHAME ON KASHMIRI GARDI IN PUNJAB :  They live in Punjab but do not trust Punjabis.

Another classical joke of PML-N with Punjab

Mian Shahbaz Sharif  has recommended yet another Family Member belonging to his own Kashmiri clan  Khawaja Izhar as Care Taker Chief Minister of Punjab. Without learning anything from the past, the way Engineer General Zia uddin Butt of his family Clan was being put as Chief of Army Staff in 1999. Insha Allah this time Punjab will teach the a proper lesson  to be remembered by their coming generation.

A Joke of the Decade, as Punjab is short of any Punjabi to be put as Caretaker.

It is a Kashmiri Family Affair…!!!

Besides given set of jokers, PML-N also have the following from their own Clan

  1. Anusha Rahman  MNA
  2. Khawaja Asif        MNA
  3. Khawaja  Saad Rafique               MNA Lahore
  4. Khawaja Tariq      MPA Lahore
  5. MianYasin             MNA

There are scores of such other nincompoops whose names are not known at hand.

Probably most of the friends might have seen this earlier as well. See once again the crooked faces of these Frauds.

No Metro Bus for PTI rally, police requests

Published: March 22, 2013

File photo of Metro Bus. PHOTO: EXPRESS/ ZAHOORUL HAQ.

LAHORE: DIG Operations Punjab requested the Punjab government on Friday to shut down the Metro Bus service for the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s  (PTI) rally on Saturday,  Express News reported.

While reviewing the security measures for the PTI’s rally, which will be held at Minar-e-Pakistan on Saturday, police officials argued that the bus service should be closed for the day based on earlier incidents involving crowds damaging the Metro Buses, offices and blocking routes.

They stated that there would be a huge crowd en-route to Minar-e-Pakistan — a stop the Metro bus takes — therefore it would be better to either shut down the service for a day or limit the route from Gajumata to MA College, Lahore.

PTI Chairman Imran Khan had recently stated that the “PTI’s tsunami” would reach Minar-e Pakistan in Lahore by March 23, travelling on the newly operating Metro Buses.

According to sources, around 600 policemen will be allotted for securing the PTI rally, and cars will be stopped at Data Darbar.

True Patwari Logic. Hats off to you.
    — Metro Buses (and for that matter all transport systems) should be closed for Rallies to ensure security.
    — All official buildings, shopping plazas, underpasses, bridges etc on the Rally route should be lifted & moved to some other place to secure them.
    — Better yet all citizens should be sent to ‘Chaanga Maanga’ to ensure their safety from ‘uncouth youth’.
    — If any mishap does happen, Khadim-e-Aala may distribute fake cheques to the affectees to satisfy media cameras (who cares if they bounce later). Huh

HORNY NAWAZ SHARIF TRIES TO SEDUCE BRITISH JOURNALIST KIM BARKER

From The Washington Post

http://articles.washingtonpost.com/2011-04-14/lifestyle/35261829_1_lara-logan-lynsey-addario-new-york-times-journalists

Foreign female journalists face challenges most often in parts of the world where protections for women are weak even in peacetime — in societies where men and women lead highly segregated lives and often don’t have sex before marriage. In these countries, men often say they view Western women as the sexual equivalent of junk food: fast and cheap.

Even highly placed sources can behave inappropriately. Kim Barker, who was the South Asia bureau chief with the Chicago Tribune from 2004 to 2008, was offered an iPhone by former Pakistani prime minister Nawaz Sharif. But that phone would not really have been free: His pickup line was, “I’m fat and old. But I would still like to be your friend,” she writes in her book, “The Taliban Shuffle.”

These headlines published in the Nawa-i-Waqt summarize the war that was fought in 1999 for two motnhs at the height of 18000 feet. This is clear that Pakistan army has won that war tactically, strategically and professionally. This is also evident from the statements of Indian civil and military leadership expressing hopelessness. Not only this in spite of utilizing its full aerial and territorial power India failed to capture peaks of Kargil. In this small scale war not only India has to bear great casualities but in spite of having ten times bigger army and latest weapons she had to lick the dust but in such sensitive and grave situation Indian media stood side by side with Indian army and this was the Indian media that propagated India as oppressed. Alas! Pakistan lost that war due to American interests attached with India. As Pakistani military leadership ignored Indian reaction over Kargil operation in the same manners Pakistan’s political leadership did an unforgiveable mistake by accepting USA as a arbitrator and failed to understand American interests in India. In the other words USA got victory in Kargil and this was openly expressed by Bill Clinton in his address to Indian in March 2000, “This was not India that has recaptured Kargil but USinterference that forced Pakistan to withdraw from Kargil…”

Nawaz Sharif-The Horny Duffer of Gowalmandi

This man would be PM a third time ? Have we learnt nothing ?

Someone asked for the relevant bit to be highlighted. Just read the bit below……..

He ignored me. “I have bought you an iPhone,” he said.

“I can’t take it.”

“Why not? It is a gift.”

“No. It’s completely unethical, you’re a source.”

But we are friends, right?” I had forgotten how Sharif twisted the word
“friend.”

“Sure, we’re friendly, but you’re still the former prime minister of

Pakistan and I can’t take an iPhone from you,” I said.
But we are friends,” he countered. “I don’t accept that. I told you I was
buying you an iPhone.”

I told you I couldn’t take it. And we’re not those kind of friends.”

He tried a new tactic. “Oh, I see. Your translator is here, and you do not
want him to see me give you an iPhone. That could be embarrassing for you.”

Exasperated, I agreed. “That’s it.”

He then offered to meet me the next day, at a friend’s apartment in Lahore, to give me the iPhone and have tea. No, I said. I was going to Faridkot. Sharif finally came to the point. “Kim. I am sorry I was not able to find you a friend. I tried, but I failed.” He shook his head, looked genuinely sad about the failure of the project.
That’s OK,” I said. “Really. I don’t really want a friend right now. I am
perfectly happy without a friend. I want to be friendless.”

He paused. And then, finally, the tiger of Punjab pounced. “I would like to be your friend.”I didn’t even let him get the words out. “No. Absolutely not. Not going to happen.

Hear me out.” He held his hand toward me to silence my negations as he made his pitch. He could have said anything—that he was a purported billionaire who had built my favorite road in Pakistan, that he could buy me a power plant or build me a nuclear weapon. But he opted for honesty.

“I know, I’m not as tall as you’d like,” Sharif explained. “I’m not as fit
as you’d like. I’m fat, and I’m old. But I would still like to be your
friend.”

No,” I said. “No way.”

He then offered me a job running his hospital, a job I was eminently
unqualified to perform.
“It’s a huge hospital,” he said. “You’d be very good at it.” He said he would only become PM again if I were his secretary. I thought about it for a few seconds—after all, I would probably soon be out of a job. But no. The new position’s various positions would not be worth it.

Eventually, I got out of the tiger’s grip, but only by promising that I would consider his offer. Otherwise, he wouldn’t let me leave. I jumped into the car, pulled out my tape recorder, and recited our conversation. Samad shook his head. My translator put his head in his hands. “I’m embarrassed for my country,” he said.

After that, I knew I could never see Sharif again. I was not happy about this—I liked Sharif. In the back of my mind, maybe I had hoped he would come through with a possible friend, or that we could have kept up our banter, without an iPhone lurking in the closet. But now I saw him as just another sad case, a recycled has-been who squandered his country’s adulation and hope, who thought hitting on a foreign journalist was a smart move. Which it clearly wasn’t.”

Barrister Akram Sheikh’s Questions for Asif Zardari & his Actions & Role in Benazir’s Assassination

images-8

A list of questions posed by Mr. Akram Sheikh to Asif Zardari, regarding the planned assassination of Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto. These questions are very probing and timely and if left unanswered will directly implicate Asif Zardari in Benazir’s death. Mr. Akram Shaikh has has raised some good and valid questions for everyone to ponder over

 images-1

1. With the NRO still around, striking down all corruption cases, and having become president of PPP and also having sole control over all of Benazir’s property and assets, is there anyone in the world who has benefited more from late Benazir’s death than Mr. Zardari?

2. Does it not make him Suspect Number One for her murder, especially when he is also facing various murder charges, including that for murder of Mir Murtaza Bhutto?

3. Mr. Zardari is already implicated in a murder case.  Benazir knew about the workers’ and her party leaders’ reservations about Mr. Zardari.

4. Why did she not consult or even share this decision with the Central Executive Committee (CEC) of the party?

5. And if not the CEC, is there any person in the whole world who can testify that she shared with him or her, the decision that, after her death, Mr. Asif Zardari will to lead the party?

6. If Benazir was so careful to write a will, then what was so secret about it? She should have taken the CEC into confidence or announce it at a rally, to protect Mr. Zardari from any later claims that the will is fake.

7. Keeping secret the contents of the will must have been a huge burden for Mr. Zardari.

  1. 8.  From 18th October till her murder, did Mr. Zardari share with any person Benazir’s will or decision that in case of her death, she wanted him to lead the party?

9. Why has Mr. Zardari not made the whole document, the will, public?

  1. On the excuse of the document being the property of Bilawal, Mr. Zardari has kept hidden that document in his pocket on the basis of which he has claimed to be head of one of the largest parties in Pakistan. This will makes all the difference.

  1. Why is it a secret?

  1. Why would Benazir want her father’s party to be headed by a man who didn’t love or respect her and who she did not even think worthy of giving him a party ticket for running as a Member of National Assembly?

  1. The foundation of all murder investigations is the postmortem. It confirms cause of death, which then becomes the focus of all investigation. It was not any Pakistan Muslim League party official or government official, but it was Mr. Zardari himself who stopped the authorities from conducting a postmortem and buried Benazir Bhutto without it.

  1. What did he have to hide, if anything at all?

  1. Why is it that since her arrival in Pakistan on the 18th of October and till her assassination on the 27th of December, Mr. Zardari was not by her side, looking after the security of his wife? Is it not the foremost responsibility of any husband to ensure safety of his wife? Yet when it came to ensuring her burial without a postmortem and taking over her party, he rushed to be in Pakistan in no time.

  1. On the death of his beloved wife, has Mr. Asif skipped shaving for a single day? [This question may sound silly but it says a lot about the spouse’s mental condition after such a tragedy.]

  1. The suicide bomber and the shooter(s) were working according to a plan. And their plan depended on Benazir coming out of the sunroof, with Makhdoom Amin Fahim safely inside.

  1. Why were they so sure that Benazir would come out? It was a gamble. Could it be possible that Mr. Fahim encouraged her to stand up and wave to party workers outside?

  1. So far, the one person who has benefited most from that secret document, Benazir’s will, is the very person who is keeping custody of that document and who produced it at the time when CEC was in session to decide the question of party leadership. No one, not even any party leader, has read that document, let alone confirms that it is in Benazir’s handwriting.

  1. Had Mr. Asif Zardari and Makhdoom Amin Fahim planned what they will do in case of Benazir’s murder?

  1. Why none of these two (future Chairman and future Prime Minister) looked confused or angry on the day of the murder?

  1. They worked together with strange smoothness and coordination. There was no outburst and no anger. Both knew their moves.

  1. Why was it that the only person who cried and showed anger at Benazir’s death was her biggest political rival, Mr. Nawaz Sharif, and not her husband?

  1. After her death, what is Mr. Zardari going to do with the sale proceeds of Surrey Palace and other assets that the couple have all over the world?

  1. Close party circles have information about the nature of relationship between Mr. Zardari and Benazir. Was he used to beating and abusing Benazir?
  2. Only party officials who were close to Benazir can shed light on this.

  1. And, finally, is Mr. Zardari remarried to anyone else?

Mr. Akram Sheikh is a prominent Pakistani lawyer.

 Pakistan Think Tank Comment:

We would like to add one more question to Mr.Akram Sheikh’s brilliant set of questions:

Asif Zardari, as a citizen of Pakistan and holding property in a foreign country has to pay taxes to the Federal Board of Revenue on sale of such property. Has he paid 20 percent Pakistan taxes on sale of Surrey Palace. Since, Mr.Zardari has not paid a single rupee in taxes to date, he is liable for prosecution as a tax evader under Pakistan Penal code. Has he paid 20 percent tax on sale of Surrey Palace? if, not, he is liable for all tax as a tax scofflaw and liable for prosecution and imprisonment as a tax evader.

The next elected Government of Pakistan should initiate legal proceedings against Mr.Zardari for evasion of taxes on the sale of Surrey Palace. He should be tried in an independent Tax Court under the administration of Judicial branch of the Government of Pakistan.

Human Civilisation Will Collapse Unless Culture Of Greed & Excessive Consumerism Is Stopped, Report Warns

In Uncategorized on April 7, 2012 at 1:39 pm

Oldspeak:“Infinite ‘Growth’ and unfettered consumption is unsustainable on a finite planet. Despite this obvious and basic fact, many civilizations before ours have tried and failed with this toxic economic model as will ours if we don’t make fundamental changes to our cultures now. The stakes are incalculably higher now as our seemingly incurable strain of virulent capitalism has spread across the globe to most all dominant cultures, even those that have thrived for thousands of years like China & India have adopted a view of greed as success. We are exhausting our planet’s resources much faster than it can replenish them, and its finite resources disappearing ever faster.  This can only go on for so long before supplies are unable to support our careless and voracious demands. We must free ourselves from the crushing yoke of our transnational corporate overseers, driving us relentlessly via their ubiquitous and insidious consumption propaganda networks to work ever harder and longer for ever more fiat currency to consume ever more things we don’t need, creating ever more waste and pollution we’re running out of places to dump. We need Barefoot Economics. Now.

Chilean Economist Manfred Max-Neef on Barefoot Economics, Poverty and Why The U.S. is Becoming an “Underdeveloping Nation”

By Andrew Hough @ The U.K. Guardian:

The world’s population is burning through the planet’s resources at such a reckless rate – about 28 per cent more last year – it will eventually cause environmental havoc, said the Worldwatch Institute, a US think-tank.

In its annual State of the World 2010 report, it warned any gains from government action on climate change could be wiped out by the cult of consumption and greed unless changes in our lifestyle were made.

Consumerism had become a “powerful driver” for increasing demand for resources and consequent production of waste, with governments, including the British, too readily wanting to promoted it as necessary for job creation and economic well-being.

More than £2.8 trillion of stimulus packages had been poured into economies to pull the world out of the global recession, it found, with only a small amount into green measures.

But the think tank warned that without a “wholesale transformation” of cultural patterns the world would not be able to “prevent the collapse of human civilisation”.

The think tank found that over the past decade consumption of goods and services had risen by 28 per cent to $30.5 trillion (£19bn) – with the world digging up the equivalent of 112 Empire State Buildings of material every day.

The average American consumes more than his or her weight in products each day, many US two year-olds can recognise the McDonald’s “Golden Archers” sign, although they cannot read the letter, and an average western family spends more on their pet than by someone trying to live in Bangladesh.

A cultural shift from consumption to valuing sustainable living was needed because government targets and new technology were not enough to rescue humanity from ecological and social threats.

Without action, humans faced problems including changing climates, obesity epidemics, declines in wildlife, loss of agricultural land and more production of hazardous waste.

Consumerism it said had “taken root in culture upon culture over the past half-century … (and) become a powerful driver of the inexorable increase in demand for resources and production of waste that marks our age”.

Erik Assadourian, the institute’s project director, said it was “no longer enough to change our light bulbs, we must change our very cultures”.

At current consumption rates, 200 square metres of solar panels a second and 24 wind turbines every hour were needed to be built to satisfy energy levels.

The think tank said it was not just the United States that was guilty of a culture of excess with other developing countries such as Brazil, India and China adopting greed as a success symbol.

China, one of the world’s biggest greenhouse gas emissions producers, recently overtook the US as the world’s top car market.

“More than 6.8 billion human beings are now demanding ever greater quantities of material resources, decimating the world’s richest ecosystems, and dumping billions of tons of heat-trapping gases into the atmosphere each year,” the report said.

This number will only increase as people in the developing world aspire towards a Western-styled consumer lifestyle.

Mr Assadourian added: “Until we recognise that our environmental problems, from climate change to deforestation to species loss, are driven by unsustainable habits, we will not be able to solve the ecological crises that threaten to wash over civilisation.

“We’ve seen some encouraging efforts to combat the world’s climate crisis in the past few years.

“But making policy and technology changes while keeping cultures centered on consumerism and growth can only go so far.”

He said such measures such as banning incandescent light bulbs and steering children away from consumerism through toy libraries would help.

It has been narrated from Abu Hurairah that he said: “We went out together with the Prophet (s) to accompany a funeral. As the Prophet (s) was sitting next to the grave, he said, -Whenever a person comes to this grave it will shout: “Oh son of Adam, have you forgotten me? Do you realize that I am a lonely place to be in, a quiet place, a place for insects, and a narrow place unless Allah makes me wider?” Then the Prophet (s) said, ‘The grave is either part of a garden of Paradise or a hole in Hell’.” [Tabrani]

4) The Difference Between Right and Wrong

In order to live for Islam one must learn the essentials of Islam jurisprudence, which is foundation of Islam and of all Knowledge. Allah the Almighty, has said:

Do not approach the Qur’an in Haste, before it has been revealed to you in full, but say, “O my Sustainer, make me grow in knowledge.” [Qur’an 20:114]

The Prophet (s) said:

Verily, knowledge is obtained by learning while understanding is obtained by experience. Whenever Allah wants to benefit a person, He gives him understanding of the din. [Tabrani]

Verily, the prophets did not want dinars of dirhams, but knowledge. Whoever will accept it, will receive a real wealth. [Abu Da’ud and Tabrani]

5) The Fallacies of Ignorant

The wise man should learn to know his enemies. He should understand their way of thinking, their factional divisions, and their way of fighting. Moreover, should study their defects and shortcomings. Since one’s greatest enemy is ignorance, one must know the fallacies of the ignorant and their direct and indirect consequences, so then one can be prepared confront and fight them. The advice of the Prophet (s) is true:

Whoever learns the language of tribe, will be safe from (their)tricks.

The Characteristics of People who live for Islam

Those who live by Islam and for Islam must follow the teachings of Islam, so that its patterns is their lives are distinguishable form the non-Islamic patterns of others. A life committed to Islam is:

  • Action-Oriented

Commitment to practical action is essential because faith is not mere idea by it is rooted in your heart so that its truthfulness can be proved by action. Allah, the Almighty, has said:

Verily man is loss, except such as have faith and do good works. [Qur’an 103:2-3]

Do you enjoin right conduct on people, and forget (to practice it) yourselves, and yet you study the Book? Will you not understand? [Qur’an 3:44]

Grievously odious is it in the sight of Allah that you do not practice what you preach. [Qur’an 61:3]

Al-Ghazali said: “Two men bring disaster to me, a virtuous man with his falsehood and an ignorance man with his adoration. The latter dupes people with his adoration and the former dupes people with his falsehood.” The prophet (s) reminded the believers:

Be a person who practices wisdom and not one who merely talks about it.

  • Problem-Oriented

A committed activist is aware of problems encountered by other Muslims and joins them in seeking solution. The Prophet (s) said:

Move together with the book of Allah wherever it takes (You).

Whoever does not pay special attention to the problems of Muslims, is not one of us.

You are a corner of the corners of Islam, so don’t let it be attacked from your corner.

In the battle of Uhud, Saad Ibn Al-Rabie died with 70 wounds on his body. Just before he died, he said to Zaid ibn Thabit: “Verily, I have smelt the aroma of Paradise. Tell the Ansar that Allah will honor His promises to those who are sincere toward the Prophet (s) and are able to catch his attention.” Then Allah took his soul.

  • Honorable in the Defense of Truth

Pride in one’s faith is one of the characteristics of the Believers. Allah, the Almighty, has said:

But honor belongs to Allah and His Messenger, and to the Believers. [Qur’an 63:8]

So lose not heart, nor fall into despair, for you must gain mastery if you are true in faith. [Qur’an 3:139]

It has been narrated that the Believers who were migrating to Ethiopia to gain freedom of religion met the King of Ethiopia, Al Najashi. One of the priests who was there with Al-Najashi started the discussion with the Believers by commanding: “Bow to the King (AI-Najashi). “Ja’afar ibn Abi Talib, who was the leader of the Believers, answered: “We are a group of people who never bow except to Allah.”

The history of Islam is full of anecdotes that show the early Muslims to be excellent in morals, and superb and courageous in action. These have been recorded by members of the first Islamic generation, for example, AI-Khubaib ibn ‘Udai, Zaid ibn Ad-Dathanah, Rub’ie ibn ‘Amir, Masaab ibn ‘Urnair, Said ibn jubair, and Said ibn Musaiyid. We should be well advised to study their history, scrutinize their life stories and follow in their footsteps.

  • Movement-Oriented

A person who lives for Islam will work with other like-minded people. Believing in Islam means to work in solidarity with others in an activist movement, directed toward teaching the truths of Islam, enjoining right and combatting wrong, establishing the Islamic personality and family, and establishing the Islamic community with Islamic governance. Allah, the almighty, has said:

[Allah to Moses], “We will certainly strengthen your arm through your brother.” [Qur’an 28:35]

Help one another in righteousness and piety, but help not one another in sin and rancor. [Qur’an 5:2]

The Prophet (s) said:

A Muslim working with another Muslim may be compared to a strong building. Everybody is reinforcing each other.

Allah’s help is with the community. Verily, a fox will eat only a sheep who is away from the community.

You must be with the Muslim community and their leader.

Togetherness is a blessing and disunity is destruction.
