Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan has announced peaceful protest demonstrations against the killing of Zahra Shahid

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan has announced peaceful protest demonstrations against the killing of Zahra Shahid and appealed to the people of Karachi to participate in the protest today (Monday).

In a video message from Lahore’s Shaukat Khanam Hospital, Khan said that murder of Zahra Shahid was atrocity and he held MQM chief Altaf Hussain and the British government responsible for the killing of his party leader.

He said that though he would not demand re-election, Fakruddin G Ibrahim should ensure free and fair inquiry into complaints regarding poll rigging.

NAWAZ SHARIF AUR DAEWOO: CORRUPT BHAGHORA OF KARGIL NAWAZ SHARIF MOCKS PAKISTAN ARMY TO PLEASE INDIA

Former Prime Minister and president of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Nawaz Sharif stated that if he comes to power post the May 11 elections, he will ensure the Army doesn’t interfere in the affairs of the civilian government. He was talking to Karan Thapar in a Devil’s Advocate special from Lahore. Nawaz Sharif acted obsequious and eager to please the Indian TV Interviewer. He bent over backwards to ridicule and mock the Pakistan Army, instead of criticizing his late Patron Gen.Zia-ul-Haq, who brought him out of obscurity to unlimited wealth and power.

Here is the transcript:

Karan Thapar: Under the PPP lead government they have got used to controlling relations with Washington, relations with New Delhi, security policy. If Nawaz Sharif becomes prime minister would you be happy for the Army to continue to exercise this sort of control.

Nawaz Sharif: I do not know whether this is happening in the centre in Islamabad. All I know is when I was the Prime Minister the policies were being formulated by the federal government, by the civilian head of the state and then of course executed by the institutions.

Karan Thapar: And you want that to continue?

Nawaz Sharif: I want that to continue and I am very clear on that, everybody must remain in their respective domains.

Karan Thapar: Which means the Prime Minister will be the Army chief’s boss.

Nawaz Sharif: He is. He is. The Army is the attached department of the federal government and of course the chief of Army staff works under the federal government and implements the policies of the federal government So I think, as I just mentioned I don’t know if that is happening in Islamabad. I believe it is not happening like that.

Karan Thapar: But you will reinforce it when you come to power.

Nawaz Sharif: That is what the constitution says, that is what our law says, and that is what the mandate is of the federal government.

If my party comes to power, we’ll not play second fiddle to Army, says PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif

Shaikh Saadi Said about Nawaz Sharif’s Race:

Agar Qaht-e-Rajal Bashad zeeshaan az aun na geree

Yak Kamboh, Doyam Afghan, Soyam Bad zaat Kashmiri

Translated:

Never trust three castes/creeds:

1. Awal Afghan ( First: Afghanistan )

2. Do-am Kamboh ( Second: Kaboh )

2. So-am Badzaat-E-Kaashmeeri ( Third: Inferior & felonious Kashmiri )

Throughout History Kashmiris have backstabbed their benefactors. Even, US will find one day Nawaz Sharif, the Scion of an Amritsari, Kashmiri Family will back stab them. These are felonious people, who have been punished by God and put under the slavery of Hindu (115000 gods)

This aphorism from a Muslim Sage, Saadi Shirazi, alludes to the untrustworthy and backstabbing nature  of Kashmiri psyche. Nawaz Sharif is a Kashmiri Trojan Horse for US. He will act as if he is a friend of China, he will work against Chinese interests. His first stealth act of treachery against China, will be in the form of foot-dragging on the Gwadar Port Agreement. He will delay Chinese help on the Reko Diq Project. He will also use dilatory tactics in the Power Sector, and do his utmost to politically sabotage the chashma III IV projects. He will appear overly friendly to China, but, he carries a dagger to stab China in the back.

Refusing to play second fiddle to the powerful military, former Pakistan prime minister Nawaz Sharif has said he will be the army chief’s “boss” if voted back to power in the May 11 general elections. A combative Sharif, whose party PML-N is widely expected to form the next government here, hinted that the current army chief Gen Ashfaq Parvez Kayani would be replaced by the “senior most” when he retires in November.

“All I know is when I was a Prime Minister, the policies were being formulated by federal government, by the civilian head of the state and then of course executed by the institutions,” Sharif said in an interview to Karan Thapar on CNN IBN’s Devil’s Advocate.

“I want that to continue and I’m very clear on that, that everybody must remain in their respective domain,” he said.

He was replying to a query if under his rule, the Army would continue to control Pakistan’s relations with US, India besides security policies of the government.

Asked if that means the Prime Minister will be Army chief’s boss, he said, “He is. The Army is an attached department of the federal government and of course the Chief of Army staff works under the federal government and implements the policies of the federal government”.

Replying to a query if he would give an extension to Kayani, he said, “I don’t think he will ask any further extension or he will be interested in any further extension. I will go by the book; I will go by the merit. Who so ever is the senior most, will have to occupy this…the next one, the next in line”.

Sharif who spoke on a wide range of issues also stressed on the importance of a combination of dialogue and armed intervention as the answer to combat terror in Pakistan.

He also said he has no vendetta against former military ruler Pervez Musharraf but said he will bring a treason trial against him for imposing martial law twice in the country.

“I think this problem has to be solved on priority basis, there is no doubt about it. And you can’t really solve all the problems through guns and bullets, you got to also explore other options.

“Options of engagement, may be those options work, in many countries problems have been solved by sitting across the table…I think all the options would have to be exercised,” Sharif said.

“We will have to have all the stakeholders sitting on the table, discuss the matter with them openly, candidly and very frankly and arrive at a policy and a strategy that is workable.

“And I think all those forces inside Pakistan, outside Pakistan will also have to be invited and we must then listen to each others concerns, address them and them pave the way for a solution to this problem,” he said.

Speaking about Musharraf, Sharif said he did not have any personal vendetta to settle.

“He has imposed martial law twice in Pakistan, first in 1999 and again in November 2007. He abrogated the constitution, he fired the judges, he dissolved Parliament unconstitutionally. I think he has to pay for that,” he said.

Asked if that meant he will sanction a treason trial against Musharraf, Sharif said, “That is not a crime that I can forgive, I think the nation will have to decide as to what the nation wants against him and then it will be left to judiciary and the judges to try and to decide”.

Speaking about his economic revival plans, Sharif said he would float an international tender for generating power from Thar coal mines.

“Indian businessmen are getting power from this coal, they are generating power from coal in India. Why can’t we do it? I think we will float an international tender, bidding and may be Indian businessmen can come and invest in Thar coal in Pakistan. We will be happy to welcome them”.

KARACHI: Vice-President of Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf’s Sindh chapter, Zahra Shahid Hussain, was killed late on Saturday in an attempted robbery incident on the eve of re-polls in Karachi’s NA-250 constituency, DawnNews reported.

According to police, three motorcycle riders tried to steal Hussain’s handbag and opened fire upon resistance by the PTI leader outside her residence in the city’s Defence Housing Authority Phase-IV.

Senior police officer Nasir Aftab said the incident appeared to be a purse-snatching attempt that went wrong. However, he added that further investigation would reveal more facts. He said all three gunmen escaped after the attack.

“She thought they wanted to snatch her purse and handed it over to them but they killed her,” said PTI leader Firdous Shamim.

PTI chief Imran Khan and spokeswoman Shireen Mazari condemned the killing of their party leader and demanded swift arrest of the culprits.

Mazari declared the incident as an act of terror and a mark of failure on part of the provincial government. She said Imran Khan had requested the government to take action against Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Altaf Hussain for issuing threatening and provocative statements to incite violence in the country, but the government did not take any action.

Altaf Hussain condemned the killing of Zahra Shahid. However, Imran Khan has blamed the MQM chief for his party leader’s killing in Karachi. Zahra Shahid Hussain was the former president of the party’s Sindh Women’s wing and was also one of the founding members of PTI.

In a tweet, the PTI chief said he held Altaf Hussain directly responsible for the killing as he (Altaf) had openly threatened PTI activists and leaders through public broadcasts. Khan, in another tweet, also held the British government responsible for the ‘murder’ of Zahra Shahid saying he had warned them about British citizen (Hussain) after his open threats to PTI workers’ lives.

The PTI chief also announced to launch a nationwide protest against what he called the conduct of MQM.

PTI leader and electoral candidate for NA-250 Arif Alvi said Zahra Shahid received two bullet wounds on her head. She had been with the party for the past 16 years, he added.

Meanwhile, an investigation team of Karachi police has reached the National Medical Centre where Zahra Shahid had been moved for treatment. SSP CID Fayyaz Khan was heading the probe team.

The MQM has called for an urgent meeting of the party’s Rabita Committee over the incident. Party leader Wasay Jalil said Imran Khan had wrongly alleged the MQM chief and in haste.

Speaking to the media after the Rabita Committee meeting, Dr Farooq Sattar said MQM strongly condemned Imran Khan’s hurried allegations against Altaf Hussain. He said the party would take legal action against what he called a conspiracy to politically polarise Karachi.

Earlier on Wednesday, the London Metropolitan police had launched an investigation against the MQM chief following complaints by hundreds of British and Pakistani citizens over one of his speeches.

The speech in question was televised across various media outlets Sunday night in which Altaf Hussain said it would be best to separate Karachi from the rest of Pakistan if the public mandate of his party was not acceptable to the ‘establishment.’ However, the MQM later clarified saying Altaf Hussain’s statements were taken out of context.

In the said speech, the MQM chief used threatening language saying his party workers would teach protesters at Teen Talwar a lesson if he ordered them to do so. He also threatened to harm those who are hatching conspiracies against MQM. He had moreover directed party activists to mentally prepare themselves for his next call. “I am about to set free my enraged followers if opposition against our party is not stopped,” he added.

BRITISH TERRORIST ALTAF HUSSAIN & MQM RESPONSIBLE FOR PTI’s ZEHRA SHAHID’S COLD BLOODED MURDER IN KARACHI: SHAME ON DAVID CAMERON!

Imran Khan blames London-based rival for Zahra Shahid Hussain killing

Imran Khan has blamed the British government and a political rival living in London for the murder of a senior member of his party, shot dead as she left her home in the sprawling port city of Karachi.

The febrile atmosphere has reached London, where the Metropolitan Police is investigating complaints from Pakistan that Altaf Hussain made an inflammatory speech in the aftermath of the election results.

The killing of Zahra Shahid Hussain and accusations of vote rigging left Pakistan’s biggest city and its economic capital on a knife edge as people turned out for a re-run of voting in one constituency after last weekend’s general election.

Mr Khan, the former cricket star whose Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) party made gains in the election, vented his anger on twitter.

He said the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), the city’s dominant political force, and its leader were to blame – a claim the party has strongly denied.

“I hold Altaf Hussain directly responsible for the murder as he had openly threatened PTI workers and leaders through public broadcasts,” he wrote, describing the killing as “a targeted act of terror”.

He added that the British government was also responsible for failing to heed his warnings about Mr Hussain, who has held a UK passport since being given political asylum in the 1990s.

Members of Mr Khan’s party said Mrs Hussain, 59, was shot dead by gunmen as she left her home in the smart Defence neighbourhood.

Police said it appeared to be a bungled robbery – a common enough occurrence in the violence-ridden city.

Other reports suggested she received two bullets to the head suggesting she had been assassinated.

Mr Hussain also condemned the attack in a statement and demanded a “judicial inquiry to get to the culprits”.

The accusations will refocus attention on Mr Hussain and his role in running the world’s third biggest city from his drab political headquarters on Edgware High Street.

Tensions have been running high between the PTI and the MQM after Mr Khan’s party accused it of widespread vote-rigging. The MQM has denied the charge and boycotted Sunday’s re-run.

The febrile atmosphere has reached London, where the Metropolitan Police is investigating complaints from Pakistan that Altaf Hussain made an inflammatory speech in the aftermath of the election results.

In it he rebutted complaints that the MQM had rigged elections, appeared to threaten protesters and suggested Karachi should separate from Pakistan if the party’s electoral mandate were questioned.

“Those people who are protesting – and grandstanding – near Three Swords – I don’t want to fight or quarrel, but if I order my supporters now, they will go to Three Swords and turn them into a reality,” he said referring to a well-known monument.

Mr Hussain’s telephonic rallies regularly draw crowds of thousands, as he revs up party supporters from 5000 miles away.

He can just as easily close the city of 23m people by declaring a “shutter-down strike”, sending the entire population scuttling home in minutes.

His sector commanders, as they are known, keep a tight rein on their neighbourhoods and the city has a terrible reputation for gangland violence, as gangsters, terrorist groups and political parties manoeuvre for control.

Reporters who cross the party have found bullets left on their cars.

In 2010, one of the key figures in his London party was murdered raising fears that Karachi’s brutal politics had reached the UK. No-one has ever been charged with the murder of Imran Farooq but detectives have focused their investigation on his political ambitions.

Altaf Hussain’s continuing presence in London is a frequent source of anger for Pakistanis who do not support his party.

“Why does Britain let him stay when with he has so much power to make or break my city,” said one Karachi resident, who asked not to be named. “If he wants to run Karachi he should come and live here.”
