Germany has reportedly been quietly marketing its IRIS-T air defense system to Pakistan, a move that carries significant strategic implications, particularly in the context of South Asian geopolitics.
Germany has already delivered another IRIS-T air defense system to Ukraine, according to sources cited by German news outlet Spiegel. The latest delivery increases four medium-range and one short-range IRIS-T systems. The same system is being offered to Pakistan.
These German-made systems, which are relatively new, have proven highly effective in protecting major cities and critical infrastructure from air attacks.

An advanced “ABC” data sharing system made all the difference in Pakistan’s hostilities against Indian forces last week, upending combat conventions, according to a Chinese defence industry newspaper.
In a report on Monday, China Space News said the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) deployed a “locked by A, launched by B, guided by C” combat system, integrating ground radars with fighter jets, and airborne warning aircraft.
Unlike traditional air combat, where a single jet handles detection and missile guidance, Pakistan’s approach shared real-time data.
