Modi Pointing Finger towards Nawaz Sharif

Former spokesperson for the Foreign Office, Tasneem Aslam, has revealed that the ousted Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had barred the Foreign Office from commenting against India and its arrested spy Kulbhushan Jadhav during his last tenure.

In a video going viral on social media ahead of the elections in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), the former spokesperson could be heard saying that the FO was directed not to mention India and Kashmir in its statements.

“Nawaz Sharif did not want to say anything against India and Jadhav through the Foreign Office,” she claimed during an interview with a YouTube channel being run by an Islamabad-based journalist, Isa Naqvi.

When asked if this was done for the larger benefit of the country, she said: “It did not benefit the country but I can’t say whether it benefited his [Nawaz’s] own interests or not.”

Having served as Foreign Office spokesperson twice — first from 2005 to 2007 during the regime of General Pervez Musharraf and then during the last Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz government between 2013 and 2017, Tasneem Aslam, maintained that Sharif had business interests in India which he did not want to harm by supporting Kashmir cause.

“Sharif did not meet leaders of India-held Kashmir’s political party Hurriyat. Usually, every prime minister of Pakistan meets Hurriyat leaders but Nawaz Sharif did not meet them when he visited India [in 2014].”

She mentioned that even in his speeches at the UN summit, Nawaz Sharif refrained from speaking against India and Jadhav.

TRANS ASIA NEWS

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Prime Minister- Nawaz Sharif likes to live life king-size. He doesn’t really fancy making any compromises- be it the decor in his home or office, the aesthetic beauty of his landscaped garden spaces, sniffer dogs to ensure his safety, latest cars to drive around in, or eating into the emergency relief budget, to train pilots for his VVIP choppers.

Regardless of Pakistan’s poor economic growth, high inflation, internal and external security and energy crises, no expense is spared to ensure he is on par with world leaders from wealthy nations. The “Supplementary Demands for Grants and Appropriations 2013-14,” data released on Wednesday, 4 June, shows six sniffer dogs and two BMW cars were bought for him, through an additional budgetary allocation, while millions were spent on renovating his official residence and the PM’s office.

To place things in perspective, the latest World Bank data shows 60.2% of Pakistan’s population currently lives on $2 a day, with significant inequality on the national scale in the distribution of income and consumption. Pakistan’s position in the Human Development Index (HDI) last year was 136 out of 177 countries. 40% of Pakistan’s urban population was found living in slum areas in 2013. The International Food Policy Research Institute released its Global Hunger Index (GHI) in 2013, which ranked Pakistan at 57.

However, regardless of Pakistan’s ground realities, The News reports that documents reveal- six sniffer dogs were purchased for security duties at the Prime Minister House in Islamabad for an unprecedented

Rs 2,400,000. An amount of Rs 120 million was spent on buying two BMW-76 Li High Security Sedans for the prime minister as well.

The budget document is reportedly full of details about VVIP expenditures ranging from VVIP emergency visits to costly maintenance of public offices. An amount of Rs16.4 million was spent on repair and maintenance of the Prime Minister House while repair and maintenance of the PM office cost a whopping

Rs 12 million. The document states Rs 1,022,000 was spent on the PM office garden alone.

Austerity is clearly not much of a priority for Nawaz Sharif.

The Musharraf Drama

The Musharraf Drama

Musharraf-bashing is all a charade, a part of a bigger game, to distract the nation from the pathetic performance of the govt while the media is hand in glove with the govt in this charade.

The PPP-Jiyala govt (with media support) squandered / wasted their five-year term observing barsies (death anniversaries).

This PMLN-Mutwala govt (with media support) will spend their five your term pressing cases against Musharraf who is a dead horse.

In the end, the nation will be ten years behind and the Ghareeb Awaam will be poorer than ever while we keep bickering about Mush while the issues like law & order, unemployment, galloping inflation, cost of living etc all remain conveniently buried and untouched by the media + the intelligentsia.

For eff’s sake, Mush is dead and gone; bury him. There are other more burning issues. The average man on the street does not give a damn whether it is a democrat who rules the the country or a dictator. All the average man on the street wants is two square meals a day and a secure job. In fact I personally don’t give a damn. If you ask me I would vote for the entity that would stem the rot, root out corruption and nip the evil in the bud; I will vote for even the Taalibaan if they can bring this about.
