Protests against Shia carnage continues in capital
Staff Report
ISLAMABAD: Hundreds of Shias continued their sit-in protest in the capital, demanding the army to intervene and improve the security situation in Quetta.
Women, children, human rights activists and the elderly were also among the protestors.
The protesters were holding banners and placards inscribed with anti-government slogans. Some of these placards read, “Stop Shia genocide,” and “Why is the government unable to identify the killers?”
Leaders of the Shia Ulema Council condemned the targeted killings and bombings on the Hazara community and Shia pilgrims. They also demanded that the Shia carnage in the country be put to an end.
Addressing the protesters, leaders of the Shia Ulema Council alleged that some people in the government had deliberately disturbed the law and order situation.
The Shia Ulema demanded the humanitarian organisations to take notice of Shia killings in Pakistan and also that the Balochistan government be dissolved.
