A cursory review of the events on any given day is enough to cast a spell of gloom and disgust among the nation. What a country with great potential the Quaid had bequeathed to us and to what a dismal present have we brought it to by our sheer poor governance?  A random sampling of some of the recent events:

LEST WE FORGET

The murderous gang of MQM terrorists are reaping the fruits of the seeds of murder and violence they have sowed in Karachi. A known executioner of MQM Imran Farooq, was brutally murdered in London.

Old friends within the MQM remember Farooq for his intellect and his fondness for poetry, but there was also reportedly dark side to him

Pakistan: Popular discontent rise after August floods

The “Zardari misgovernment” is the proverbial gang that could not shoot straight.  It is the albatross around the neck of senior PPP stalwarts like Aitizaz Ahsan, Nahid Khan,  and Dr. Safdar Abbasi. Zardari’s callousness, lack of sensitivity, and incompetence has tarnished not only the image of PPP, but also, destroyed the  Bhutto family power base, in the interior of Sind. Mumtaz Bhutto, a venerated co-founder of PPP has chastised Zardari in his comments in the media. This situation has been exacerbated by the August 2010 floods in war-torn Pakistan have not only displaced 21 million people but also created a severe food shortage, which is expected to worsen in the coming days. In this scenario, Zardari like Nero is fiddling away in the Aiwan-i-Sadr. Zardari tried to implicate  Benazir’s confidantes in the assassination plot, but that attempt also failed. Close associates of late Benazir Bhutto, Dr Safdar Abbasi and Naheed Khan, had sent a secret message to the Zardari House to contradict a report in The News about a shocking perception that they, along with Amin Fahim, were responsible for her assassination. But there has been no response after almost a week.

The couple had sent the message to Zardari House but have yet to receive a contradiction of the report as demanded by Dr Safdar Abbasi and Naheed Khan.

The Information Secretary of the PPP, Sherry Rehman, said she had no idea about the message or something like that.

However, unlike Naheed and Abbasi, Amin Fahim did not send any message to the Zardari House. He, however, gave his own reaction to The News to incorporate it in the main story. MAF was of the view that this was totally ridiculous to think that any one of them sitting besides Benazir was responsible for her martyrdom.

MAF said they were risking their lives by traveling with Benazir, knowing well that she was the target of suicide bombings.

MAF had pointed out that he used to sit on one side of Benazir and Naheed Khan on the other, so that they should be hit first and not Benazir Bhutto.
