Secretary of State Hillary Clinton says: US had no solid evidence about Haqqani-Pakistan Connection

Sen.Carl Levins, a Jewish Senator (D-Michigan) was behind promoting the story, that there was an ISI-Haqqani network connection.  This story was also backtracked by Admiral Mullen and other US administrations officials.  But, Senator Levin’s continued trumpeting of this story has put Secretary Clinton in an awkward position. Pakistani people were particularly incensed by this canard and Mrs. Clinton’s visit did much to diffuse the situation. But, Sen Levin continues to inflame it through his statements.  such intemperate statements play right into the hands of the anti-semitic forces in the Islamic world, who claim that Jews are Anti-Islam and would like to see the most powerful Islamic country, Pakistan destroyed. Somehow, many in Israel tend to believe the Indian inspired propaganda that Pakistan’s Nuclear Program is focused on India and Israel. Pakistan has no animosity to threaten Israel or any other country, but, after India exploded its, scurrilously anti-Buddhist named nuclear explosion, called “Smiling Buddha,” Pakistan had to counter with a deterrant.
That allegation[connection between Haqqani-ISI] will prove particularly embarrassing for Sen. Levin, with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton saying that the US had no solid evidence whatsoever to back up its allegations.
Likewise, the repeated rebukes from US officials have led the Pakistani government not so much to believe that it would harm relations, but that the US might launch a ground invasion, something the administration is so far denying
