Brave act by Pakistan; calls US veto blocking food for Gaza children ‘moral stain’|Janta Ka Reporter

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel has been highly critical of Israel’s actions in Gaza, referring to them as “genocide” and “extermination” of the Palestinian people. He has consistently condemned the bombing of hospitals, refugee camps, and UN facilities, calling these actions violations of international humanitarian law. Díaz-Canel holds the United States responsible for enabling these actions through its support for Israel and use of its veto power in the UN Security Council to block ceasefire resolutions.

Key points:

  • Strong condemnation of Israeli actions: Díaz-Canel has used strong language to denounce Israel’s military operations in Gaza, describing them as “barbaric” and “genocidal”.
  • Criticism of US role: He accuses the US of complicity in the conflict by providing support to Israel and blocking efforts for a ceasefire at the UN.
  • Solidarity with Palestinians: Cuba, under Díaz-Canel’s leadership, has consistently expressed solidarity with the Palestinian people and advocated for their rights, including the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
  • Calls for ceasefire: Díaz-Canel has called for an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza and unrestricted access for humanitarian aid.
  • Participation in protests and events: He has led pro-Palestinian demonstrations in Havana and participated in international forums to express support for the Palestinian cause.

It is important to note:

  • Díaz-Canel’s stance aligns with Cuba’s long-standing foreign policy of supporting anti-imperialist and anti-colonial movements.
  • His strong rhetoric has drawn criticism from pro-Israel groups and some Western governments.
  • Middle East Monitor reports that Díaz-Canel stated on X (formerly Twitter) that Israel “continues the extermination of the Palestinian people in Gaza ‘with total impunity’ ensured by the US“.
  • Cuba has joined South Africa’s genocide case against Israel at the International Court of Justice.
