Time to descend to earth. Time to pause from delving into heaven after death to hell before death. Things had become stagnant. Now there is a new kerfuffle – the Return of the ‘Padri’ and another long march that threatens to bring Islamabad to a standstill yet again.
I had been predicting it for months: a visitation by the latest pretender to the messiah mantle, to wit one Tahir ul Qadri, doctor of philosophy and a scholar of theocracy who speaks many languages and whom the wags have taken to calling Tahir ul ‘Padri’ – as in ‘Padre’. He claims to having been visited by the holy Prophet (pbuh) who was so unhappy with Pakistan that he threatened to leave and never return. Qadri begged and pleaded with him but I don’t remember whether the Prophet (pbuh) relented. People cry when they hear this story and regard Qadri as the anointed one. So once again the illusion of change in the air is upon us. Once again there is no gainsaying that it too won’t turn out to be another mirage.
People flocked to Qadri’s rallies in droves. Not all could have been hired or rounded up. No surprise with a people who have dynasts and messiahs in their bones, for that is all they know, perpetually in search of a monarch and at the same time a messiah to deliver them from the dynast’s tyranny.
We first knew Qadri as head of – wait for it – PAT, acronym for Pakistan Awami Tehreek. Then he went to Canada and got citizenship. For years he honed his political philosophy. Now he’s back with a new set of demands: change the constitution, change the system, end feudalism, reform before elections, blah, blah and more blah, things we have heard many times before but never seen come to fruition.
On the face of it none could disagree with Qadri. We all want reforms towards a truly democratic and egalitarian society. But talk comes cheap; action is difficult. Qadri hasn’t told us how he is going do it: we know his strategy – what to do – but not his tactics – how to do it – except for the inevitable ‘long march’ (Poor Mao. When O’ when will they have an original thought?).
What could Qadri’s real objective be? If you cut through the jungle of his rhetoric it becomes obvious: to delay elections that are nigh – ‘reforms before elections’ gives it away. Elections can be delayed for a year constitutionally, but how reforms can take place constitutionally defeats me. Why should the disease willingly provide the cure and kill itself? Why would our parliamentarians bring reforms that end their over lordship?
Conventional wisdom has it that Qadri has America’s backing. Proof? Where is Qadri’s money coming from? Fair question. It’s more than his supporters could muster or the ISI provide.
Why would America want the present government to continue a while longer? Because they have been brought to the realization that without Pakistan it would be impossible to exit Afghanistan safely and honourably. Pakistan’s support is vital to getting hundreds of thousands of troops and some $35 billion worth of heavy armaments, equipment and materials out, which can only be done via Pakistan’s land route through Port Karachi. They might never find more pliant and obedient satraps as they have now. They can’t risk what new elections might bring. Even the return of the same satraps won’t guarantee continued compliance for their power might be limited. There is no guarantee that an interim pre-election government with a long extension will be able to deliver without electoral ‘legitimacy’ and a mandate. They certainly don’t want Nawaz Sharif whom they regard as unreliable and unpredictable. So the best option is to continue with the present set up.
Indian writer Bhadrakumar agrees in ‘India’s Afghan Moment’: America’s ‘dalliance’ with India is over and Pakistan is back in the ‘core group’ of three with America and Afghanistan and an ‘outer ring’ of Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar. An end to America’s Afghan War is not only good for Pakistan, America and Afghanistan but also for the rest of the world. We should help them for our own sake.
The People’s Party’s and the Nawaz Sharif’s opposition’s minds are preoccupied by Qadri’s impending long march to Islamabad on January 14. If it materializes it will bring the capital and thus the state to a standstill. It could eventually also bring Pakistan to flashpoint. If there is violence there will be chaos and eventually anarchy. The army will have to step in. Some people think this is precisely Qadri’s purpose: to create justification for a coup, overt or covert. MQM supporting him lends credence to this theory for its leader Altaf Hussain has repeatedly asked the army to join the people for once to bring reform and end feudalism. I don’t think so.
The army knows that Pakistan is already in so much turmoil that they will not be able to control it. The army statement that now internal security is its main concern fortifies the coup theorists but they forget that the war within is worse than the danger without.
However, things could go so out of control that a coup becomes inevitable. The earlier ones couldn’t deliver because while it is relatively easy to do a coup it is very difficult to know what to do the day after. Without a plan of precisely what to do, another coup would be a disaster. Remember an uncontrollable Pakistan suits no one. Its falling apart suits them even less, especially India, whose own centrifugal forces would accelerate and the Taliban come to its borders and soon inside it. Who wants such a powerful country with a huge armed forces laced with a nuclear arsenal in chaos? Old countries like Egypt can withstand the turmoil that it is going through and still remain intact. What about a new, fragile state brimming with contradictions and problems?
How to counter Qadri? I had predicted Zardari and Sharif ganging up again, this time in an electoral alliance of convenience driven by self-survival. That has nearly come to pass. The alliance will be so huge that it will take the wind out of Qadri’s sails. It might even suit America and our establishment: Zardari the senior partner, Sharif the junior, PPP prime minister, PML-N deputy prime minister. Let’s see. As President Lyndon Johnson said, America might think of Sharif that it is better to “have him inside the tent pissing out than outside the tent pissing in.” With the MQM, ANP, JUI, FATA and PML-Q – perhaps Qadri too – rushing into the tent as well, it is the closest thing we will have to a National Government. No bad thing at this juncture.
I say what I have been saying for years: let our evolutionary process continue to its natural conclusion. If that conclusion is self-correction, good, but if it is demise all the better. Best it dies naturally than becomes a martyr to rise again as a zombie as it has done. Something better will emerge from its ashes. The people will have learned and will not make the same mistakes again – hopefully. Some people never learn and remain mired in the past, stuck forever in decadence, degradation and poverty. There is no system that can correct them. This is how nations die.
You might think that I am being perverse, but I am happy because things are going in the right direction. I thought it would take longer, but it has taken only one full term of elected governments to expose the system as unworkable. An increasing number of people are seeing that this system isn’t for working. Best to let it go to its natural death and hope that a brave new world emerges naturally from its ashes.
Once again Pakistan stands at a crossroads. Take the path less trodden upon and go to fortune. Or take the path most trodden upon and go to more misfortune. Let us see what lies in store but never underestimate the collective stupidity of our ruling classes.

It is the duty of every true Muslim to relentlesly oppose the Jew-Christian-Infidel axis at every turn, at every step. O Musslaman! Forget not the injunctions in the Holy Quran: Surah Al-Maidah #5: Ayat # 82. “The worst enemies of Believers will be Yehud and Pagans and Polytheists (Hanud,Hindu) . . Quran: [5.51] O you who believe! do not take the Jews and the Christians for friends; they are friends of each other; and whoever amongst you takes them for a friend, then surely he is one of them; surely Allah does not guide the unjust people. ! Breaking-up Pakistan: The Passing of the Mantle: Zionist Selig Harrison’s is nearly 90 years old but his Dream is still Unfulfilled, but the mantle is passed to a fellow Zionist, Andrew Gavin Marshall. The same virulence and anti-Pakistan rhetoric is being regurgitated, which Selig Harrison & Sydney Schanberg, both of New York times and Washington Post, did in the pursuit to destroy Pakistan for the last 40 years. US Press, Media, and Zionist Blogs reproduce the same articles against the existence of Pakistan, which Selig Harrison and Sydney Schanberg, and now Andrew Gavin Marshall*, another Zionist is in the forefront of Anti-Pakistan and Anti-Muslim Propaganda. Another actor in this game is
In an interview with Press TV, Hamid Gul, former Inter-Services Intelligence chief revealed more of what he sees as the US strategy in Pakistan. He explained that with the massive expansion of the U.S. Embassy in Pakistan, and alongside that, the increased security staff, the Chinese are becoming increasingly concerned with the sovereignty and security of Pakistan. He claimed that the money that the US government offered (with heavy conditions) to Pakistan, $1.5 billion every year for five years, will be spent under the direction of the Americans, and that “they are going to set up a large intelligence network inside Pakistan,” and ultimately “they really want to go for Pakistan’s nuclear assets.” He further claimed that the Indians are trying to destabilize Pakistan; however, he explained, this does not necessarily mean disintegrate, but rather:
they are trying to destabilize Pakistan at the moment so that it feels weak and economically has to go begging on its knees to Americans and ask for succor and help. And in that process they will want to expect certain concessions with regards to nuclear power and also with regards to setting up their facilities here in Pakistan.[1]
When he was asked what America’s long-term goal was in regards to Pakistan, Gul responded that the goal:
for America is that they want to keep Pakistan destabilized; perhaps create a way for Baluchistan as a separate state and then create problems for Iran so that this new state will talk about greater Baluchistan… So it appears that the long-term objectives are really to fragment all these countries to an extent that they can establish a strip that would be pro-America, pro-India, pro-Israel. So this seems to be their long-term objective apart from denuclearizing Pakistan and blocking Iran’s progress in the nuclear field(2)

Breaking Pakistan. According to a column in a newspaper Selig Harrison has proposed that Balouchistan should be encouraged to become independent as it will serve American interests in the future. It reminds me of a memo sent by Gen. Lord Wavell to the India office stating that Pakistan’s independence should be supported because Pakistan will remain weak and helpless and will always need the help and aid of Great Britain. Furtheremore it will a valuable tool in furthering Britain’s interest in till the end of history. India’s help in this scheme is also highlighted. If today we are able to solve the Kashmir issue both Pakistan And India will fragment beyond recognition.People in both the countries will at one another’s throat. In india so many insurgencies are being fought. In Pakistan the smaller prvinces will be at Big bad brothers throat.People of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are alredy suffering because charlatans acting as leaders ignored what was happening. It may be better for for the ruled than for the ruers.Recall the words of Churchill that Independant India will be ruled by rascals, thieves and charlatans who will steal everything leaving nothing for the people except the air to breathe over which they have no control. It is time that subcontinent which is home to the most miserable people on God’s earth should be subdivided into more manageable entities. These Zionists work in close co-ordination with RAW, MOSSAD, and US Think Tanks like Brookings and Carnegie Endowment led by Jessica Matthews, in a single minded effort to raise a spectre of imploding Pakistan with its nuclear arsenal in the hands of fundos and fanatics. Zionist are almost psychotic in their belief that Pakistan is a clear and present nuclear danger to their beloved first homeland Israel. This fear is exacerbated by the close cooperation with Indians, who keep feeding a diet of Pakistan run amok and thereby, enhancing the Zionist paranoia. they are now forming an axis to bring China into their fold, and in a concerted effort use both India and China to destabilize Pakistan. Unfortunately for them, the Chinese people and People’s Government are aware of this game and have not fallen for this Zionist stratagem.
Western media is controlled by Zionist managements and reporters, who get story lines to pursue from their hindu counterparts in India. The Zionists reporters serve a dual purpose :1) serving as reporters, e.g. Selig Harrison2) as well as siyanim, the eyes and ears for Israel (http://www.texemarrs.com/082012/sayanim_everywhere.htm). They can legitimately enter the most sensitive sites in the Islamic world (such as Kahuta and Chashma) without being questioned, because, the Muslims lacks enough sophistication, to unravel their real mission. Once in a while, a bunch of fanatics or fundamentalists killers get hold of one of them, and do what they do best, shoot the messenger. Such acts end-up harming the Islamic interests and serve as a fodder to zionist dominated Western media, who milk these stories for years to come. A case in point, the “martyr,” Daniel Pearl, whose dual mission was forgotten, because he became a cause celebre, after “martyrdom.” In Pakistan, there is growing suspicions, that, the killers of Daniel Pearl were foreign intelligence agents working in tandem with local fundamentalists. They wanted to create a martyr for the cause. These days another Jewish reporter for NBC TV is traipsing all over the Muslim world. His name is similar to the famous Marxist Ideologue, Engel, that is Richard Engel. The game these zionist reporters play is very subtle. Their reports shed crocodile tears for “Muslim” on “Muslim” violence. For example, Bashar El-Asad (an alawite, non-Muslim Kharji kicked out of Shia Fiqh )and his atrocities against the people of Syria. Zionists demonize Islam, Muslim governments, and the 1.2 billion Muslims. They do not differentiate between secularized Muslims or the so-called, “fundoos,” or the fundamentalists. They consider all Muslims as potential enemies. This myopia pervades their opinion columns and bylines. They are subtle and sophisticated in their approach, they write very positive articles about the Muslim secularists, but in their last paragraph or conclusive sentence, put in a sprinklingof negative spin. This is similar to the proverbial Urdu story on the suitor, who was perfect in all aspects, but loved onions or “Piaz Khata hai.”
Here are some comments on Pakconnects Blog of Pakistanis on the Zionist involvement in Balochistan.

SELIG HARRISON is a New York Zionist, who is a siyanim or a Jew working for Mossad. He works for the New York Times, a Jewish owned newspaper, which was instrumental in break-up of United Pakistan. In 1971, the Jewish siyanim at New York Times was Sydney Schanberg, New York Times correspondent in New Delhi,India. He handled the Anti-United Pakistan propaganda for Indians. Jews are now in collusion with Hindus, they are planning to destroy Pakistan. But, Jisay Allah Rakhay Usay Kon Chakhay. Pakistan is a Nuclear and Ballistice Missile Power with China as its senior Partner in security, HinJew (Hindu-Jew combine) Axis will fall on its face. Inshallah.

Americans have intensified their preparations for a major attack on Balouchistan against Pak Army in Oct 2012 in disguise of human rights violations. Now I remember why Pak army had been conductiong massive military excercises along Balauch border with afghanistan soon after General kiani took office as Army Chief. Pakistan Army has succeeded with help of ALLAH in SWAT INSHALLAH it will also in Balochistan. If America attacks Pak Army in disguise of talibans, then Pak Army must use full muscle including all lethal bombs and missiles against the insurgents. In my openion Americans will suffer a massive defeat and their exit strategy in Afghanistan will becom 1000 times more bloddy than Vietnam.

If Dr. Allama Muhammad Tahirul-Qadri can bring about a change for the better in Pakistan, it should be diligently welcomed. Prophet Moses was not from the line of prophets or descendants of Abraham, yet he liberated the enslaved Hebrew (Jews) nation from the mighty Pharaohs, and gave them an identity and land.
Sheikhul Islam Qadri is not an equal to Prophet Moses, nor is he a revolutionary politician in literal sense. Yet his political party Pakistan Awami Tehrik (PAT) that he founded in 1990 outlines the mission “to introduce the culture of true democracy, economic stability, improve the state of human rights, justice and the women’s role in Pakistan”. The PAT also aims to remove corruption from Pakistani politics.
If the chickens come home to roost, let them. Why there is an uproar that he is a Canadian citizen and that he had forfeited his right to delve in Pakistan’s politics. By living in Canada he has not been doing any fruitless or objectionable activities but spreading the message of Islam and humanism. I am also not ready to buy the argument that he has come to Pakistan with some hidden nefarious agenda at the behest of the powers and elements inimical to Pakistan.
Let us take his words on the face and tend to believe that has come back to Pakistan with a well defined and upright agenda to steer this country out of the dark woods, put it on the right tracks and initiate a movement that might set Pakistan on a desired yet ignored course. If his intentions are exposed as malicious and a ruse to serve the antagonists of Pakistan, then he would be the one to suffer irreparably in reputation. Thereafter he will have no place in Pakistan as a scholar, mystic, or a politician.
I would prefer to forget what he has been doing in the past. What I have to care is what he is going to do for Pakistan and Pakistani nation. Will his clarion call and envisaged mission of setting the things right would galvanize the marginalized and dispossessed people of Pakistan? Has he the guts and thrust to make the people a valiant force to fight for their rights against the selfish, ravenous leaders, crook bureaucrats, greedy business robbers and defiant enemies of peace and social harmony? Would he emerge as a bulwark against the cult of phony and fraudulent rulers whose only penchant has been to loot and plunder the national wealth, promote nepotism, and nurture all the vices that are attributed to Pakistan and that have turned Pakistan into uninhabitable and dreaded place.
If through a system of choosing honest leaders, he can seize the bull of bribe and corruption by horns and straighten those who bilked billions by abusing their powers and authority then he should be supported. It is for the first time that a liberal, religious scholar from among the ignorant and fanatic mullahs has opted to achieve a breakthrough that would deliver the nations from the clutches of obscurantism, fundamentalism and orthodoxy. Allama Qadri speaks and vouches for true democracy, human rights, an electoral system free from rigging and hijacked by the moneyed classes and individuals.
The mammoth crowd that came to attend his address at the public meeting at Minar-e-Pakistan on 23 December eloquently vouches the glaring fact that people of Pakistan want a change from the stagnant, unsafe, and egregiously sinister way of life. The life in Pakistan is getting traumatic and miserable and harder for the people.
Dr. Qadri must have come to this empirical and objective conclusion that it is primarily the leadership that can transform the destiny of nation and make it honorable, strong and prosperous. It is the honest leadership that creates a system of governance that is transparent and in accord with the interests of the country and aspirations of the people.
Now the electoral system is not only flawed in Pakistan but it is outright wicked and monstrous. The elections are blatantly rigged. The ballot boxes are not only stuffed with ballots of the strong candidates but the ballot boxes are swapped. The bogus votes are cast without any let or hindrance.
But what makes the electoral system in Pakistan a sheer mockery is that the serfs, tillers, and bonded farm labors cannot vote against the local lords be it a petty landowner or a super duper feudal. Moreover, because of the deprivation, poverty, inferior social status, the votes for a pittance can be easily purchased.
The Thana culture pays its pernicious part. A common man in villages and slums of the cities cannot have enough courage or clout to defy the dictations of policeman who is usually henchmen of mill owner, a retired bureaucrat, a ruthless feudal lord and the government functionaries.
The clan, the biradari system, the family and blood relations, the kinship plays an overwhelming role to tilt the results in favor of corrupt, morally bankrupt, degenerate leaders.
Such elected representatives use their influence and power to enhance their wealth, get lucrative contracts, and benefit their relatives and friends in several ways. They break and bend laws for amassing as much money as he can. In his brazen loot there are other partners that share the booty. It is this spooky and perverted and wholly faulty system that Dr. Qadri wants to rein in and make it transparent and clean.
Now if PMLN leadership denounces his endeavor as derailing the democratic bandwagon then it is a partisan assessment because a democratic order must spawn and produce honest and patriotic leaders who are dedicated to the welfare of the people and not filling their own coffers already brimming with ill-gotten wealth.
Dr. Qadri has rocked the prevailing rotten system and its proponents and that is why there is cacophonies hue and cry to revile him as being a foreign agent or enemy of democracy and with a hidden agenda aimed at postponing the elections. His mission is somewhat akin to the social activist Anna Hazare of India who single-handed rallied the entire India against the menace and curse of corruption. He may not fully achieve the ultimate objectives of his crusade but at least he has blazed a trail that would serve as a beacon and the first vigorous assault on financial immodesty that is as widespread in India as it is in Pakistan.
Let us hope that Dr. Qadri stands his ground firmly and does not budge under any threat or pressure. If he can assemble half of the promised four million protesters and marchers for his rally in Islamabad, he would have made the dent in the powerful citadels of the corrupt, greedy law breaking, exploitative classes and individuals in power. The rest could be a self propelling trail of landmark developments that might pave way for a Pakistan that we all dream to be. If he is arrested that might open a Pandora box of hazardous ramifications. Is that what the government would expect to postpone the elections to stay in power till the dust settles down? Who knows!

Sensing danger to their political empires most political leaders especially the PML(NAWAZ), the PPP, the JUI (F) and ANP groups are in the forefront in castigating Maulana Tahir Qadri for his March for the Change. They question his dual nationality, his source of funding to the tune of Crores, his call for the Change at such a belated time and hurling personal attacks on him of all sorts. I will not defend him for any of the accusations against him as he himself has done it many a time publicly and on media under the oaths of the highest order.
Whether he is a Saint or a Scoundrel doesn’t make a difference to me. I am just concerned with what he says and demands, that is; Clean and Honest Electoral System to give us good and honest people to elect from. I sincerely hope and pray that our present political leaders shall not oppose such an Electoral System. My question to his ALL detractor is a simple one. Do they want the candidates for the coming elections to be Honest, Sagacious, Non-profligate and Ameen or not? If yes, then how to find one measuring up to the Articles 62 (f) and 63 of the constitution. One way of doing it could be to ask the candidates to proffer the followings also along with their nomination forms to the ECP:
By doing so most of the undesirable ones could be weeded out and we would have good and honest politicians to choose from.
