A Video Tribute to Pakistan-China Friendship (Dosti)

Foreign secretary visited China to seek greater cooperation.

ISLAMABAD:

As ties between Washington and Islamabad reach one of their lowest points in over a decade, Pakistan’s top diplomat went to Beijing to shore up cooperation and support from one of the country’s oldest and strongest allies.

Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir is visited China for discussions with the Chinese leadership on bilateral, regional and international issues last April 28 and 29, as announced by Foreign Ministry spokesperson.

“The foreign secretary held consultations with Chinese Executive Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Zhijun,” said Tehmina Janjua in a statement issued in Islamabad at the time. The visit can be viewed in the context of the established Pakistan-China strategic dialogue mechanism between the two foreign ministries.

But official sources confirmed that the foreign secretary’s visit to China was prompted by the recent rise in tensions between Pakistan and the United States due to a series of events, including the Raymond Davis affair and US a drone strike that killed dozens of civilians in Pakistan’s tribal districts.

“Under these circumstances, the foreign secretary’s visit to China has assumed greater significance,” said one foreign office official who wished to remain anonymous. “We have excellent relations with China but the time has come to take the ties to the next level where we should have less reliance on the Americans.”

Bashir’s visit to Beijing comes days after he dashed to Washington in an effort to overcome differences that have the potential to unravel ties between Pakistan and the United States and consequently impeding progress in Afghanistan.

Sources say Salman Bashir is strong advocate of seeking realignments, and has presented a detailed analysis to the government regarding a reduction in dependence on the US by reaching out to the Chinese.

Published in The Express Tribune, April 28th, 2011.

{Note:-The US media tried to minimize the importance China gives to Pakistan as a strategic ally, and down played the importance of the visit. Militaries of both China and Pakistan work in close cooperation and China has been the most trusted neighbour of Pakistan. Unlike India, which has back-stabbed Pakistan, helped destroy its unity with its eastern wing,  and detests the very existence of Pakistan as a nation. Although, India’s own survival as a nation is in jeopardy due to the brave battles of the Bodoland, Khalistan, and Tamil guerillas.}

Presstitute media and opportunist politicians should wake up to the harsh realities…..

china_pakistan_flag

Pakistan’s presstitute media, run by immature media anchors, and opportunist politicians need to understand the new game plan; this involves tarnishing the image of Pakistan’s military in order to destabilize and eventually disintegrate the country for a larger scheme of reshaping the world to the advantage of the sole super power.  Pakistan’s current troubles with India and the USA have their roots in its all-weather friendship with China. Those who want to keep China away from taking advantage of Pakistan’s geo-strategic location in order to become the “numero-uno” global power can go to any extent. And the immediate action on cards is Pakistan’s disintegration to snatch Balochistan away, along with the port of Gwadar, from Pakistan by establishing a Free Balochistan State. It can now be clearly understood that insurgent movement in Balochistan was fanned and funded just for that purpose. This is in order to block the use of Gwadar port and development of ancillary terrestrial infrastructure in the province to deny an energy corridor to China for its energy needs. Pakistani prime minister’s visit to China, immediately after post-OBL row with the USA, has transmitted troubling signals; the visit and the statements made by leaders of both the countries have caused concerns and worries, both in New Delhi and Washington DC. Both the countries have never expressed their disapproval of Sino-Pak ties so loudly before.

Pakistan’s disintegration is not a new initiative in the game of reordering the world to keep one power as a sole hegemonic variable. There were different theories making rounds in national security circles. But the recent events, particularly those relating to Pakistan, have confirmed that the USA needs to sort Pakistan out in order to deal with growing Chinese influence and its economic might. There are fears in the informed circles in Washington DC that USA, post OBL operation, can even land its forces to occupy Pakistan. The USA is playing on the nerves of American people using threats to the U.S., including “rogue states,” “failed states,” “autocracies” and “terrorism”, but gives pride of place to the “challenges” posed by “rising and resurgent powers,” of which only China and Russia are named.

The card being played right now by US establishment and its allied media is to weaken the only institution left intact in Pakistan; its military. The military-bashing campaign is being reinforced by Pakistani media who has immature anchors and some of the opportunist politicians who are trying to settle their score with the military establishment for sacking their inefficient and corrupt government.

The current situation has cleverly been managed to block China from using Gwadar port which is very close to Iran’s Chabahar port built by India for its economic and strategic reasons. Right from the time Chinese started building this port, there were instances of violence in Balochistan and open opposition to this port voiced by Baloch nationalists who, as later proved, were working at the behest of India. According to an article recently published in Information Clearing House, in order for China to sustain its status as the emerging economic superpower, it must take all the necessary steps required in order to have sufficient energy resources for the near future. According to Pakistani think tank, BrassTacks, Chinese interests in the Indian Ocean became visible in 2002, when they invested heavily and began work on the Gwadar Port, located in Balochistan, a province of Pakistan. The Gwadar Port has its benefits for both Pakistan and China. The cost benefits to China of using Gwadar as the port for western China’s imports and exports are as evident as the long-term economic benefits to Pakistan of Gwadar becoming a port for Chinese goods. Not only does Gwadar enable China to fulfill its energy needs, but it will also provide a strategic military footprint in the Arabian Sea, which has the United States worried.

Due to its geo-strategic location, Pakistan is important both for China and the USA and both are competing to have their respective footprints in Pakistan for their influence in the region. In order to halt this, the report says, the globalists need to block China’s access to the Arabian Sea by way of Gwadar. According to BrassTacks, to do this, “there needs to be a ‘new Pakistan’ as indicated in Operation Enduring Turmoil.” Operation Enduring Turmoil is a plan of Project for New American Century (PNAC) to disassemble Pakistan into three parts. According to a “game plan” drawn out by Lt. Col. Ralph Peters, in a 2006 article of the Armed Forces Journal, “Pakistan’s Northwest Frontier tribes would be reunited with their Afghan brethren [and] would also lose its Baluch territory to Free Baluchistan. The remaining ‘natural’ Pakistan would lie entirely east of the Indus, except for a westward spur near Karachi.” With this done, what was once the NWFP, a province of Pakistan, is now part of Afghanistan, and what was once Baluchistan, a province of Pakistan, is now its own state, Free Baluchistan. This would force China to impossibly go through Afghanistan and Free Baluchistan in order to reach the Arabian Sea. Such an arrangement would cut China’s route to the Arabian Sea.

In order to make an assessment of the game plan, let us look at the developments from November 2009 onward. China sends out an interesting signal ahead of US president Barack Obama’s scheduled visit to Beijing by offering a set of advanced fighter jets to Pakistan. It has agreed to sell $1.4 billion worth of jets to Islamabad days ahead of the planned visit of the US president Barack Obama to Shanghai and Beijing on November 15-18. The move jolted the US administration as it works on notes and talking points for Obama’s meetings with Chinese leaders because he is expected to discuss Beijing’s relationship with India and its role in internal conflicts in Pakistan and Afghanistan.

A year later, in October 2010, the following interesting perspective on how things were heating up between the US and Pakistan is published by Margolis:

The neoconservative far right in Washington and its media allies again claim Pakistan is a grave threat to US interests and to Israel. Pakistan must be declawed and dismembered, insist the neocons. Pakistan’s nuclear arsenal is reportedly being targeted for seizure or elimination by US Special Forces. Many Pakistanis believe the United States is bent on dismembering their nation. Some polls show Pakistanis now regard the United States as a greater enemy than India.

Now, let’s fast-forward to early April 2011. This year will mark the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations. Most Pakistanis don’t want closer relations with Washington–they want to build closer relations with Beijing, and work on creating the Muslim Union (similar to the European Union) in Central Asia. Links with Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Iran and Turkey are key to the future of Pakistan. Islamabad is moving ever closer to China, both militarily and economically– and that’s a fact Jack. By mid Aprilthings start going downhill; very fast. The transactional relationship between Washington and Islamabad is coming to an end. While US-Pakistani transactional relations are fraying at both ends, the opposite is true of Sino-Pakistani relations. Pakistan supported China when she was recognized only by Albania, and built the bridge to the USA. This fact cannot be forgotten by the Chinese who mention it in every summit and mentioned it in this summit also.

And finally, on April 27, the report says, the following catalyst prompts the Obama team to execute the Kill Osama Bin Laden Script. This is the pivotal point in the Bin Laden Death Operation Script as a catalyst for the soon to come Pakistan Occupation:

a) Pakistan is lobbying Afghan President Hamid Karzai against building a long-term strategic partnership with the United States, and urging him instead to look to Pakistan and its ally, China, for help in striking a peace deal with the Taliban and rebuilding the economy, according to Afghan officials.

b)      Washington’s relations with Pakistan have reached their lowest point in years following a series of missteps on both sides, and Pakistani officials say that they no longer have an incentive to follow the American lead in their own backyard, the report added.

c)      “Pakistan is sole guarantor of its own interest,” said a senior Pakistani official, adding: “We’re not looking for anyone else to protect us, especially the US. If they’re leaving, they’re leaving and they should go.”

d)     Export-Import Bank of China decides to loan Pakistan $1.7 billion to develop a city-wide train system in the eastern city of Lahore.

Since the holes-filled and never-explained ‘kill or capture’ operation, the presidential PR machine, the US media and their extension guised under ‘alternative’ have been beating the war drums. After all, as with any wars of ours, public opinion must be shaped, and public backing must be garnered. This is one of the latest reflecting just that:

After the killing of Osama bin Laden in Pakistan, few American voters believe that country is an ally of the United States in the war against terrorism. Moreover, most doubt Pakistan is worthy of continued U.S. foreign aid. That’s according to a Fox News poll released Wednesday. Nearly three out of four voters — 73 percent — say the United States should stop sending foreign aid until Pakistan demonstrates a deeper commitment to the war against terrorism. Some 19 percent would continue to provide funding. With the discovery that bin Laden apparently had been living in Pakistan for years, the consensus is Pakistan is not a friend (74 percent). A small 16 percent minority of voters views Pakistan as a strong U.S. ally in the war against terrorism.

You must be thinking: Pakistan must have tons in their own dossier to expose US government duplicities, lies, and nefarious activities. So why have they been relatively silent in all this? Why don’t they open the flood gate on ‘facts’ surrounding Bin Laden, his supposed role in 9/11, his supposed journey since 9/11, and his supposed death recently? The report says that: neither party has played all their cards yet. Just take a look at how Gates has been playing both sides carefully while measuring the outcome of various factors in play:

Gates reiterated the accusation that elements within the Pakistani government knew about the location of Osama bin Laden and were keeping that information from the United States. Bin Laden was killed in a US raid earlier this month. At the same time, Gates echoed comments by other officials, conceding that the US has absolutely no evidence to that effect and that it is “pure supposition on our part.” The repeated accusations, despite being based on “pure supposition” have done major damage to US-Pakistan ties, and have spawned calls from Congress to suspend all aid to Pakistan to punish them.

Gates, who attended the conference with Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Admiral Michael Mullen, also said that the US raid that killed bin Laden had “humiliated” the Pakistani government, and that they had “paid a price” for bin Laden’s presence. Mullen added that the US ability to attack Pakistan with impunity was “a humbling experience” for the Pakistani military.

The White House neocons are in the midst of age-old diplomatic games, bluffing, and hedging their bets. They have the ‘foreign & military aid’ card. They have the ‘ISI dirt files’ card. They have the ‘ultimate China leaning’card. And of course, they have the ‘mighty power of preemptive occupation war’ card which is always blessed and supported by NATO and overlooked by their butlers in the UN. China has its own set of cards; whether it is their biggest market for dumping goods, or carrying the US debt, or who knows what else. For now they are using the ‘talk’ card with no real strings attached:

As for the people of the world, they’ll be sitting and waiting for the three parties to conclude this stage of their global hegemony game. They’ll be reading and watching and listening to their PR machine in the media give us one concocted fantasy after another. As in all other wars of these people will have zero to say, zilch to gain, and plenty to lose.

BALOCHISTAN-THE BEATING HEART OF PAKISTAN : Zardari is a Baloch, what has he done for Balochistan?

Pakistan’s so-called US puppet, Zardari of PPP is a Baloch. His father Hakim Ali Zardari was not a Sindhi, he was a Baloch!  How much Zardari has accomplished for the Balochis? What has he done for Balochistan’s progress in economic, educational, infrastructure, social, cultural, health, women, girls, and childrens education. pure water resource development?

Absolutely nothing!

US MEDDLING IN BALOCHISTAN IN CAHOOTS WITH INDIA AND AFGHANISTAN’S KARZAI

Balochistan is the heart of Pakistan.

Balochistan is the heart of Pakistan. Quaid-i-Azam spent all his energies to convince the Balochis to become part of Pakistan. Sind, Balochistan, Punjab, and Khyber Paktunkhwa, along with Gilgit/Baltistan became part of United Pakistan at the behest of our Quaid. But, the power grab by corrupt Sindhi , Punjabi, and Pakhtun politicians deprived the economic and social benefits of Pakistan’s Independence.  But, now, the next generation of politicians like Imran Khan and Nawaz Shariff are realizing the discriminatory attitude towards Balochis.
The exploiters of Balochi people are the powerful families led by Sardars.  they deliberately kept Balochi people illiterate, economically deprived, and socially backward. While these Sardars and their spoiled “brats,” children went to the best schools and colleges of Pakistan. People like Bramdagh Bugti and the Marri brothers went to such elitetist schools like Aitchison College and Sadiq Public School.  The fees of several lakhs of rupees spent on spoiled brats like Akbar Bugti and his pups. Here is a facebook write-up on them:
“Akbar Bugti was the son of Nawab Mehrab Khan Bugti and a grandson of Sir Shahbaz Khan Bugti. He was born in Barkhan the rural home of the rustic Khetran a ( Marri-Bugti ) Baloch tribe to which his mother belonged and now an upgraded district of Balochistan, on July 12, 1927. He was educated at Oxford, England and Aitchison College, Lahore. It is alleged that he committed his first murder when he was only 12 and that he had several men killed to avenge the assassination of his son, (Salal Bugti).”
Key Questions: How much money was spent on the education of Bugti Sardars and their children, as compared to that on spending on members of Bugti tribe.
How many houses (Kothis) and Mahals Bugti Sardars and their children own in the following cities:
  1. Quetta
  2. Karachi
  3. London
  4. South of France-cote D’Azur, Monaco, Brittany
  5. Kabul
  6. Dubai
  7. Lahore
  8. Moscow
QUESTIONS FOR BALOCHI SARDARS NEED TO ANSWER
Q. Hyrbyair Marri should answer the same questions. Where was his early education? When he was in Kabul, who paid for his room, board, and expenses?
*******
Q.Hyrbyair Marri should also answer the question, who paid for his education, room, board, and expenses in Moscow, after he moved there from Kabul.
*******
Forget the propaganda against Bugtis and Marris by Pakistan government.  Lets ask these feudal exploiters of Balochi people some tough questions.
How many roads, schools for girls and boys, health clinics, water purification facilities did you build in your villages, after the British gave your ancestors charge of Marri and Bugti tribes?
*******
Marri, Bugti, and Mengal Sardars were Paid Billions of Rupees from Pakistan’s Treasury but they DID NOT spend a “teddy paisa,”on their wards, the members of Marri, Bugti, and Mengal tribes.
Akbar Bugti was Governor of Balochistan, what did he accomplish for Balochis?
Akbar Bugti was corrupt money and land grabber, who accomplished an absolute zero in the realms of:
  1. economic,
  2. education,
  3. infrastructure
  4. health
  5. job opportunities
  6. social structure deveolpment, not only in Balochistan, but also in his own Derra Bugti area.
QUESTION: Where did all the development funds go, when Akbar Bugti was governor of Balochistan?
Those funds went into his pocket and for the high living life styles of his sons in London, Paris, Monte Carlo.
WHAT DID AKBAR BUGTI, ATTAULLAH MENGAL, AND KHAIR BAKSH MARRI DO FOR THE WELFARE OF BALOCHIS?

Absolutely nothing!

Hello Pakistan! Does it reflect Pakistani Culture or Core Values?

Ms.Scaachi Koul, go ply your trade in a flesh market on seamy side of New York. Or find better role models for Pakistani women! The side of Pakistan, you are hell bent on showing is “burger family trash,” which does not represent Pakistan; and its core values.
And BTW, I am not a fanatical fundoo or a bleary eyed Mulla, I am just a scribe telling you, that your journalistic slip is showing, your Western upbringing (ABCDAmerican-Born Confused Desi ).
“Hello! Pakistan aims to show another side of the country…but don’t expect to see women in bikinis,” Scaachi Koul,
who claims to be a Pakistani Canadian.”
Who is more beautiful, Zahraa Saifullah or a humble Pakistani woman shown above?

“Say to the believing men that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty: that will make for greater purity for them: and Allah is well acquainted with all that they do. And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what (must ordinarily) appear thereof; that they should draw their veils over their bosoms and not display their beauty…….” (Qur’an Nur, 30-31)

Commentary
Khurram Shaikh

Pakistani women do not want to emulate the seamy side of Western Society which trashy glossies like Hello,a Cosmopolitan for Pakistani greed stricken, corrupt to the core, mammee-dadee burger babee elite.

TARGET PAKISTAN

There are several steps in destroying a nation from within. The first step is to destroy its core values. Make them look conservative, fanatical, not in step with time, backward. Go after the family structure and make it egalitarian. Make fathers into tyrants or buffoons. Mothers into backward and controlling. The second step is to challenge the role of founding fathers. Treat them with derision and assasinate their character, by “cooking-up,” their foibles or weaknesses. Make the youth rebel against national, cultural, and social values. In the third step, create doubts about the most important core value, Faith. Demonize their religion. Bombard the youth about horrible acts of its adherent. Brainwash, weak intellects or illiterates to commit irrational acts in the name of faith. By, default move people away from a structured belief systems. A glaring example is to connect a negative word, like terror, and make it interchangeable with the name of the faith. Propaganda and brainwashing nations is done on a massive scale, to such an extent that adherents of the Faith, especially, younger generation, begin to dissociate or deny their faith. Such an incident happened even in the life of the Prophet Isa (PBUH). He told his most ardent disciple Peter, “before the cock crows twice, thou shalt deny me thrice.” And Peter did deny knowing Hazrat Isa (PBUH), when the Romans questioned him about, Hazrat Isa’s (PBUH) whereabouts.
Demonization of Islam continues for the last 1400 years

Demonization of the name of the religion has already started. Islamic terrorists, Islamic Bomb. Islamic Jehad, Islamic fanatics, Islamic suicide bombers, Islamist Al-Qaeda and on and on. Make the people believe that it is Islam, not humans which commit acts of terrorism. This is religious racism and it is being spread like wild fire. The driving force for this crusade are none other than the people who attacked the Holy Prophet (PBUH), when he presented Islam to the pagan Arabs. The biggest opponents of Islam were the Meccan Jews and to a lesser extent the Meccan Christians. Fourteen centuries have passed and this Anti-Islamic Crusade has no let up. Hatred is being spread against Muslims, by the global Newspapers like The New York Times, Washington Post, Time, Newsweek, and the news agencies, like Associated Press, Reuters, and Agence France Press.National governments from Western nations are funding electronic and news media, through planted news, skits, parodies, fake stories, unethical journalists, writers, art and culture alambardaars, economists, scientists, educators, scholars, religious leaders, state minorities, and a host of hidden conduits of brainwashing and propaganda.
Here is a typical story.

After reading it, one would say, “Attagirl, Zahraa Saifullah, you are making a breakthrough for the clostered women of a Muslim society. Shahbash well done. Zahraa will be invited to all the embassy functions. Be wined and dined and lionized, because she is serving a purpose, destroying a core value of Islam, Hayaa or Modesty. But, if Zahraa had invented a new type of long lasting car battery, she would not find even one line about her feat.
Pakistanis must continue to fight for better education for all sexes.  So that the snake oil being sold to them in name of modernity finds no buyer.
In this article, poor “Hello” Magazine is being portrayed as a victim of turban wearing Fundoos. As if the whole Pakistani society spins around whether Zahraa Saifullah “show a sliver of bare shoulder.”
Well, we’ve got news for you. On many streets in Pakistan, occasionally on sees a mentally disturbed “half-naked women!” Pakistani people do not stone them to death. Most of the times nearby women or men provide a blanket or a shawl to cover them.
Nakedness Sells in Societies, where women are a piece of meat

If Ms. Zahraa Saifullah wants to wear low cut clothes or no clothes, its her prerogative. But, if she marched around naked in the West, she would be arrested. So There!
Before pointing a finger at Muslims or Pakistanis, look at your hand, three fingers are pointing back at you.
Pakistan has travel warnings posted by most Western Embassies. But, is Oak Creek, Michigan safe? Is Tucson, Arizona safe? Is Holland safe? Is Norway safe? And last but not the least, are kindergartners in Scotland safe?
Man’s beautiful partner and equal
Allah Created Women as brainy creatures, as mothers, daughters, sisters, wives, and collegues,  not as pieces of flesh for prurient fantasies of depraved men.

AND AS FOR WESTERN WOMEN ROLE MODELS:

Ms.Scaachi Koul might be better off talking about, the women, who against all challenges in the Western societies made their mark on human history such as:

Zahraa Saifullah could be the face of a new generation of Pakistani women: powerful…by Scaachi Koul on Thursday, August 9, 2012 6:20pm –

Original Article and Photograph Above of Zahra Saifullah

Zahraa Saifullah could be the face of a new generation of Pakistani women: powerful and wealthy, yet happy to show a sliver of bare shoulder. Saifullah wants to bring this modern perception of Pakistan to the rest of the world and, as the publisher of the new Hello! Pakistan, she’s using international media to do it.

With editions in Greece, Russia and Canada, to name just a few, Hello! magazine has now furthered its reach. Saifullah, 29, was approached by the media organization last summer to create a Pakistani version.Hello! Pakistan published its first issue this spring. It sold out in just three days.

The Hello! franchise is known for glossy spreads on royals and celebrities, but Saifullah has higher hopes for the South Asian edition. “One of our goals was to reshape Pakistan’s media image,” she says. “All that ‘fire and brimstone’ overshadows the real culture and feel of Pakistan.” Still, Hello! Pakistan is expensive at 500 rupees—around $5, enough for Pakistan’s poorest citizens to survive on for two days.

So far, Hello! Pakistan appears to focus more on achievement and philanthropy than who’s wearing what. The first issues of the magazine included profiles of actor Sean Penn and Pakistani-Canadian director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, who won an Oscar this year for Saving Face, her documentary on Pakistani women left disfigured by acid attacks.

The wide disparity between rich and poor in Pakistan may explain part of its appeal. Houchang Hassan-Yari, fellow at the Centre for International and Defence Policy at Queen’s University, notes that U.S. TV showDallas was hugely popular in the developing world. “They see the wealth, the unreal life for them, and it makes them dream about the possibility of getting out,” he says. “That is the attraction.” For many, Hello! Pakistan is pure aspiration. For Pakistan’s wealthier citizens, it offers tips on wedding planning and travel. The magazine’s ads reflect that. High-end retailers like L’Oreal and Mango are among the brands advertising in the new magazine.

Some Pakistanis have criticized Hello! as un-Islamic. And the magazine will struggle with societal standards—dictating, for example, how much skin can be shown on its covers. Saifullah says there aren’t any set publishing standards or regulations, but there is a strong conservative force in the region. “This is a society that is full of contradictions. You have very liberal females, and then you have those who do not let girls go to school,” Hassan-Yari says. “If you see groups protesting Hello! Pakistan, you shouldn’t be surprised.”

In December, Pakistani actress Veena Malik was shown nude on the cover of FHM India, outraging conservatives, particularly since “ISI” was printed on her arm, the initials of Pakistan’s controversial Inter-Services Intelligence spy agency. “I think we can get away with showing a bit of leg,” Saifullah says, “but you won’t be seeing our models in bikinis any time soon.”

ZARDARI LEADING PAKISTAN TO ECONOMIC DISASTER : Pakistan Economic Destruction Profile 2012

So what is he (Zardari) thinking?

The answer, unhappily, is a familiar one. One, Zardari’s obsession with proving that he can drag this government over the finish line — completing its term — continues to dominate all else. Two, Zardari cares about only Zardari. And three,
Zardari’s world begins and ends with domestic politics.Combine those three elements and you have answers to all the vexing questions
. (From the DAWN | Cyril Almeida | 24th June, 2012)

Adnan·

Dear Cyril

you nailed it, zardari and his dream world has no other fellow, just him and his lust for more. I would beg to differ though on your last thought, where your think we have to bear with him a little longer. I believe on the contrary that he is staying for much longer and his party plus his coalition partners are coming back next year. And that is because we dont have enough educated people like yourself in the country. Most of our populace only remembers what happened last night, and not over the last five years. So my dear Cyril, WE will elect them back in power, bacause we do not know the difference between good and bad. WE have rotted as a nation and as a people, and WE will only elect what is the worst of the lot, because WE are blind in our faith and deaf in our belief.

Omar·

You are right Adnan you are the few ones that admit that WE have a problem as a nation. But I also beg to differ with you on one thing, majority of our educated people in and out of country don’t use common sense and blame others for what they have done to their nation which directly involves their personal life. The problem is with the citizen of Pakistan, educated or not educated. Many of us don’t even know whats right and whats wrong. And just like Zardari WE care about only ourself and don’t care even about the small neighborhood that we live in.

BTW great article Cyril

Pakistan Economy Profile 2012

Economy – overview

Decades of internal political disputes and low levels of foreign investment have led to slow growth and underdevelopment in Pakistan. Agriculture accounts for more than one-fifth of output and two-fifths of employment. Textiles account for most of Pakistan’s export earnings, and Pakistan’s failure to expand a viable export base for other manufactures has left the country vulnerable to shifts in world demand. Official unemployment is 6%, but this fails to capture the true picture, because much of the economy is informal and underemployment remains high. Over the past few years, low growth and high inflation, led by a spurt in food prices, have increased the amount of poverty – the UN Human Development Report estimated poverty in 2011 at almost 50% of the population. Inflation has worsened the situation, climbing from 7.7% in 2007 to more than 13% for 2011, before declining to 9.3% at year-end. As a result of political and economic instability, the Pakistani rupee has depreciated more than 40% since 2007. The government agreed to an International Monetary Fund Standby Arrangement in November 2008 in response to a balance of payments crisis. Although the economy has stabilized since the crisis, it has failed to recover. Foreign investment has not returned, due to investor concerns related to governance, energy, security, and a slow-down in the global economy. Remittances from overseas workers, averaging about $1 billion a month since March 2011, remain a bright spot for Pakistan. However, after a small current account surplus in fiscal year 2011 (July 2010/June 2011), Pakistan’s current account turned to deficit in the second half of 2011, spurred by higher prices for imported oil and lower prices for exported cotton. Pakistan remains stuck in a low-income, low-growth trap, with growth averaging 2.9% per year from 2008 to 2011. Pakistan must address long standing issues related to government revenues and energy production in order to spur the amount of economic growth that will be necessary to employ its growing population. Other long term challenges include expanding investment in education and healthcare, and reducing dependence on foreign donors.
