£3000 per night room for Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani at a UK Hotel.

Written by  Khurram Shaikh, Pakistan Think Tank

£Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani left Washington Tuesday evening for Pakistan at the end of a three-day visit. during which he attended a nuclear security summit.  On his way to Washington, Mr.Gilani stopped in UK. As usual this Feudal (zamindar) Prince, travelled in style, spending taxpayer money with garish extravagance. Every time Mr.Zardari or Mr.Gilani travel, several crores of rupees are lost from the public exchequer. due to their luxurious life styles.

During this United Kingdom visit, Mr.Gilani stayed at the Sofitel Hotel at Heathrow, London.  He and his party of 8 bureaucrats enjoyed a lavish lifestyle, wining and dining at the best restaurants in the vicinity.  Mr.Gilani's room only cost £3000, a night. The cost of eight other members of his party also ran into several thousand pounds.  These heartless fiends were oblivious to the plight of the nation they represent.  Tax payer money which could have been used to build primary schools, rural medical dispensaries, and rural water purification facilities was squandered as an offering to the god of hedonism.   But, as Faiz would say “laut jaatii hai udhar ko bhii nazar kyaa kiije,” a nation of 170 million people suffer in silence. It seems Mr. Gilani is cut from the same hypocritical PPP cloth of corruption as Zardari and his coterie of rogues.  What has this government done for the people of Pakistan, except sponge off Pakistan’s treasury. Mr. Gilani and Zardari should learn from recent history.  What has happened in Kyrgyzstan is bound to happen in Pakistan. The Kyrgyzstan’s “bell will toll,” in Pakistan and the rest will be history.  It would be good riddance from the malaise of corruption from Pakistan’s body politic.
