Sizzle or Fizzle: The Indian Nuclear Test Soap Opera

In May 1998 India conducted a series of tests of nuclear devices in the Pokhran range in the north-western Indian state of Rajasthan. Within days of the announcement of the tests doubts were raised about the yields of the tests by seismologists related to the CTBT (Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty) monitoring apparatus. The chorus that thetests had failed to yield expected results was joined by BK Subba Rao in 1998.
